Shop and Eat

My eight-year-old son has been eating me out of house and home.  Apparently he's growing.

"Mama," he said today, "I'm starving!"

"You just ate an hour ago," I replied.

"Yeah, I know.  But I'm starving!"

I looked in the refrigerator and noticed that our food supply was on low.  "Okay.  Time to restock.  Let's take a little trip to COSTCO."

For those of you who may not have a COSTCO in your neighborhood, it's a, 80,000 square foot warehouse building that sells bulk everything - food, medicine, furniture, TVs - you name it, it has it.  The nice thing about COSTCO is that there are always employees giving free food samples.  You can actually get enough food to equal an entire meal.  It was the perfect place to take my famished son.  While I shopped, he snacked.

When we were done, he gave me a satisfied smile.  "Mama, I wish we lived here."

"Why?"

"Because then I'd never have to starve."

  1. As if you starve him at home. Yeah . . . I'm looking at your photo. You look pretty evil, just like the kind of mom who would starve a child. Definitely a growth spurt going on.

    1. I am evil! LOL! But yes, he's definitely growing. I'm just a little worried though, if he's eating this much now, what's he going to be like as a teenager?

    2. It will be non-stop eating by the time he's 12. The Hurricane once grew five inches in a single summer. Strangely, she did not eat non-stop. I think it's more of a boy thing.

  2. LOL that is a good trick, I've done it for a ree lunch once in a while too.

    1. Haha. I had to laugh at all the kids that were getting their free lunches there! I think more kids were sampling than adults.

  3. LOL, I remember going through the growing spurts with my son. I felt like I could never keep enough food in the house.

I've been to a Costco's before. They are huge! I bet you could be there all day and still not see everything.

How are things with your son's poison ivy? I hope it is clearing up nicely. Hopefully not too much scratching going on.
