Dog in the Bed

"Woman!" my husband called this morning.  "Come upstairs!"

I wondered what the man wanted.  I walked up the stairs into my daughter's bedroom where I found an interesting sight.  My husband, son, and daughter were all snuggled in her bed...with our hundred pound German Shepherd, Schultz.

My jaw nearly dropped to the ground.  "You let that beast on the bed?"

My husband grinned.  "Look how happy he is!"

"Happy?  I don't care how happy he is!  First of all, he's not supposed to be upstairs.  Second of all, there is no way he's allowed on furniture.  Get him off the bed!"

All three of them looked at me with sad puppy eyes.  "Don't give me that look," I said.  "You know the rules.  And look at all the hair he's getting on your bed!"

My daughter smiled sweetly.  "So?  You can wash it."

Grrr!

  1. Hope those sad puppy eyes work on you because nothing beats movie night snuggled on the couch with Hubby and two pups.

    Now that's good living.

  2. I've listened to my kids give me the "You can wash it/fix it/get it/etc." response so many times. Grr is right!

  3. Oh dear 100 pounds, my hubby just told me we could get a German Sheppard after I found footprints in the snow that did not belong to any of us. Footprints in the fenced back yard. I was so happy -- I love GS's but worry my Boston Terrier would feel overlooked.

You can wash it... yeah still hearing that one!

    1. German Shepherds are a handful. Stick with the Boston Terrier!

  4. A dog that size needs his own twin-sized mattress! :-D

  6. I love having dogs in the bed. I wash my sheets two or three times each week. It doesn't bother me, but I don't have young kids yanking on me and making demands of me. Elvis Aaron Schwarz is my only kid (and if he ever calls me "Woman" he'll be able to sing soprano), and he swears he prefers a bed with dog hair in it. I can't imagine not allowing Schulz upstairs. Dogs are pack animals and they need to be with their families. However, I can appreciate your position, so perhaps Schulz could have his very own doggie bed in your daughter's room?

    Love,
    Janie

    1. I definitely do not have time to wash beds three times a week! And for my sanity, I need a dog-free zone. Doggy can stay in his crate. :) (Although I'll consider a doggy bed for him when he's old and decrepid. -See I'm not completely cold and heartless ;))

  7. Hahaha! Now that your dog knows what it's like to be in a human bed, he's never going to be satisfied with sleeping on the floor again. XD

  10. OOPS! All three are in trouble now. I went from cat hair on things to dog hair on things, so I can relate.

  11. Sounds like you were set up to me. The dog most likely had no choice, either.

  12. Hahahaha! My cat Denny takes over Nicole's room when she's away in college. He loves his purple bedroom. Sounds like Schultz is quite happy with his too!

  13. Uh-oh..lots of hair..I can imagine why Schultz is not allowed in the bedroom. Looks like there's trouble for the three.

  16. I allow mine on the bed. It's very snugly, but mine aren't the size of Schultz.
