Mama Avatar

"Mom, I'm going to make you an avatar on Wii," my eleven-year-old daughter said.

"That's nice," I replied.  "Do you think I'll ever use it?"

"No, but I'll make one anyway."

She went to work creating a figure that was supposed to resemble me.  A few minutes later, she had something she wanted to show me.  "Come here, Mom.  What do you think?"

I looked at the creature on the screen.  It had black eyes and tiger stripes all over its face.  "Excuse me," I said.  "I don't have black eyes.  And what's up with the tiger stripes?"

"Those aren't tiger stripes, Mom.  Those are wrinkles."

"What?" I couldn't believe it.  "Listen kid, I know I'm old, but I don't have wrinkles like that!"

"All right.  Fine.  I'll fix them."

She went back to work.  She got rid of the wrinkles and then gave me pretty blue eyes.  I was about to say that it looked much better, but then she started messing with the lips.  I looked like a kissing gourami.  "Why did you give me fat lips?"  I asked.

"Because of your duck bill."

"Hey, that's gone!  I have normal lips now. Fix those lips!"

She gave me an exasperated sigh.  Then she went to work on my body.  When she was done, I had a fairly attractive face, but a big head and a teeny tiny body.

"That's a little disproportionate," I said.

"No, it's not.  You have a little body and a big head."

Okay.  Maybe she's right!

    1. Absolutely. I couldn't believe the wrinkle part. I had to double check in the mirror to make sure it wasn't true! LOL!

  3. Kid Art is something else. I saved the best - especially family group portraits the kids drew.

  4. I guess I'd rather have a large head and a small body rather than the other way around. : )

  8. I didn't know you could change the size of the heads on an Avatar. Leave it to kids. (-:

  9. How funny! It's great to hear that your 11 yr old is still interested in mom, and then to listen too!

Did you keep before and after pictures of your avatars?

    1. I don't have before and after pictures. If I can ever get the photo stuff to post on blogger again, I'll post the after picture.

  10. My mii is called Motherlord. My kids did a pretty good job creating them - you can tell who is who even without the names. I bought Zumba for the Wii - which is crazy because I don't dance at all ever. I did it with my preschooler - it was hilarious. We were terrible, and it kept telling me I was hot.

  11. Oh my gosh, Sherry, this is hilarious! My kids are grown, but I remember times like this when they were brutally honest about my looks! The good news is, their perceptions of us when they're kids are a bit exaggerated! I love this post!
