Please Allow Me to Re-Introduce Myself

This is totally last minute.  I was just perusing the blogosphere, when I saw this neat little blog hop going on.  One of the hosts is Stephen Tremp.  If you want to participate, go see him and sign up.

So, for those of you who don't know me, let me introduce myself with this official bio from my webpage:

Official Bio

Sherry Ellis is a freelance writer and children's author.  Her book, That Mama is a Grouch, was honored as a finalist in the Parenting/Family category of the 2010 USA Book News Awards and as a finalist in the Parenting/General category of the 2011 International Book Awards. It was also awarded first place in the Parenting category of the 2011 Pinnacle Book Awards.

Sherry is also a professional musician who plays and teaches violin, viola, and piano. She has appeared as a soloist in Germany, and was a semi-finalist in the 2004 International Viola Competition held in Paris, France.

Sherry is a lifetime member of Cambridge Who's Who and was honored as a 2010 VIP of the year. In 2012, she was honored as a Woman of the Year by the American Biographical Institute for her contributions in the field of music education.

Blah, blah, blah.  Now for the interesting stuff:  I'm a mom, of course.  I have two lovely kids and 26 pets.  (Don't ask!)  I like SCUBA diving (I was a PADI Scuba instructor in my past life AKA before kids),   I enjoy hiking, biking, travelling, gardening, writing, and playing and teaching my instruments.  I used to do arts and crafty things, too, like scrapbooking and crossstitching, but honestly, I just don't have time to do that stuff anymore.

What about you?  Who are you, and what do you like?

  4. Hi Sherry!

Nice to meet you! I've always wanted to SCUBA dive, just for the experience. Seems like it might be fun!

  5. I still love scrapbooking, but never have time for it anymore (boo-hoo). SCUBA is something I'd love to try. I think I'll add it to my bucket list.

26 pets??? I have to ask what are they and how do you find time to keep them all fed?

  7. I used to quilt but never get around to it either. We have three cats and a tank full of fish and that's more than I want. Kudos to you for all your pets.

    1. All those pets can get a little overwhelming! Fortunately, most are contained and not running all over the house!

  8. Nice to meet you Sherry. I really want to learn how to scuba dive, but am scared to death after my brother almost died diving in hawaii. He still dives, though.

    1. I'd say that would make you a little cautious! It's a lot of fun, though. Which is probably why your brother is still doing it.

  9. Lots of interests you have. Don't you wish we could live in two different dimensions sometimes? Then we might be able to actually do all the things we like! But maybe there'd just be more things we'd like to do in that second dimension. :)

Anyway, it's good to learn a bit more about you. You've got to tell about the 26 pets though. Let's see...an ant farm would give you even more pets. A farm?

    1. I'm interested in mosaics, too. I think they're really pretty. If I ever retire (which I probably won't), I'll have to learn how to make them.

  14. I'm guessing most of the pets are fish. I was so interested in your bio. I admire your talents! Writing and music - how wonderful. Good for you.

What do I like? My #1 love is traveling. My heart feels free, excited and happiest when hubby and I are driving to new places. We love nature and have been moved by this beautiful world God gave us. Our favorites have been Jasper National Park, Monument Valley and the surrounding area and the Pacific Northwest.

  19. I mentioned on another blog today that there seems to be a connection between music and writing- I've noticed there are many writers who also play/appreciate music. I can play the piano and I've always loved violin music. I hope that you can post a clip of your music on your blog someday.

    1. It must be the creativity of an artist. If you'd like to listen to my music, you can find a video tab on the right and click on that. I have a few videos of my music.

  24. I don't know if I mentioned it to you already but I salute you for being a scuba diving instructor. Being underwater is my biggest biggest fear. I panic when I'm in deep waters not to mention when I don't see the bottom anymore and it's all dark. Have a great day :)
