Immortal Jellyfish

"Mama," my nine-year-old son said.  "Did you know jellyfish are immortal?"

"What?" I couldn't believe it.  "Nothing is immortal."

"Jellyfish are.  I learned it in school."

"Yeah right," I said.

"But Mama, it's true!"

"Okay, I'm going to look this up."  So I did.  And guess what?  One kind of species of jellyfish is indeed "immortal."

If you want to get enlightened, here's the article.

(Now my son says lobsters are immortal.  I'm off to check this out, too!)

  2. the same is believed for crocodiles and alligators. They die only in nature, when attacked by their enemies, but in the zoos they live for hundreds of years...

    1. Yes. I don't need to live forever, but if I can look good even when I'm old, I'll take it!

    1. I guess there's an overpopulation of the jellyfish in some parts because of their immortality.

  8. I read the article and decided that the name of the jellyfish is wrong.
It basicly regenerates its cells, therefore it is a TIME LORD JELLYFISH! GERONIMO!

  9. Ah, now I think of the Cumaen Sibyl (hope I spelled those correctly because I'm too lazy to look it up). Apollo gave her the gift of immortality without the gift of eternal youth. She ended up as a little pile of dust that could talk. I wonder when she finally blew away. Maybe she's still talking dirty.

    Love,
    Janie
