X-ray Vision

"Mama," my nine-year-old son said.  "What do I have behind my back?"

I scoured the table, trying to figure out what was on it that was no longer there.  "A quarter," I said.

He looked surprised.  "Yes.  Now guess which hand it's in."

"Right."

He wrinkled his eyebrows, looking very puzzled.  "That's pretty good, Mama!"  Then he did a little shuffle.  "Now guess which hand it's in."

"Right," I guessed.

"Yep!"  He did it again.  "Which one, now?"

"Left."

"Mama, you're good at this."  He shuffled things around one more time and put his hands behind his back. "Guess again.  You'll never get it!"

I looked at that kid and smiled.  "Neither."

Of course I was right.  I figured he had put it in his back pocket.

He stared at me with his mouth open.  "How did you know?"

"Bubba, Mamas have x-ray vision.  You can't hide anything from the Mama!"

  2. Ah yes the all seeing Mom eyes. They always awe us as kids. Even now my Mom uses her Mom powers on me. =)

  3. Good job. I always pick the wrong hand when my kids try this with me. I guess it's time for a stronger prescription on my X-ray glasses.

  5. Uh-oh. Now he won't get away with anything! My mom always said she had eyes in the back of her head. I remember puzzling about that one.

    1. That would be brilliant, but I don't think he's figured out that lead block x-rays! ;0)

  9. When I was a kid my mother always caught me when I was up to no good, even if I was clear on the other side of the house. I was convinced that she had x-ray vision. 20-something years later, I'm still not totally convinced that she doesn't.

True, you can't hide anything from mum; just a thorough scan with those laser sharp eyes all over you and that's it !

  18. Cute!!! My kids aren't old enough to be deceptive yet, but when they are they might be able to fool me. Right now I'm thinking about when they play hide and seek and they always still hide in the exact same place. :)

    1. That makes it easy. My son perfected that game, and now I can barely ever find him. (He can't find me either!)
