The UGG Toy

Our German Shepherd, Schultz, is in big trouble!

My daughter had left her UGG boots in the middle of the family room floor.  Schultz spotted them and decided they looked like chew toys.  If these had been any other boots, it wouldn't have been such a big deal.  But these things cost 200 dollars.

He parked himself on the floor, with the boots between his paws, and proceeded to chew away.

My daughter discovered it first.  "Schultz!!!!  Bad dog!!!!"

She ran into the room and yanked the boots away from the beast.  Of course they had slobber all over them.  (I don't think he tore them, but once you get UGG boots wet, they're destroyed.) "Schultz, you ruined my boots!"

He cocked his head and looked at her.

"You're grounded, Schultz!  Forever!"

So now the dog is in the dog house.  Maybe while he's there he can learn the difference between the word, "UGG" and "TUG."  I think he just got confused.

    1. Unfortunately, you are right. Although the dog should know better!

  2. Ouch. Yeah, our dogs chew up stuff too. Like Alex said, on the floor is fair game. My daughter has lost toys to the dogs. She still forgets to pick things up sometimes.

  4. Oh no! Next time she'll have to keep her UGG boots under lock and key so Schultz doesn't get confused.

  5. Schultz is just rebelling against the capitalistic world in which ugly boots cost more than some people eat on a half year basis :)

    1. I assume you meant, "Earn." But yes, I agree with you. It's ridiculous that a pair of boots like those cost so much - especially when they can easily be ruined by water.

  6. Ouch, said Sherry's wallet. Dog instinctively know that an item is pricey or irreplaceable. It makes the item taste delicious.

    1. I'm not buying any UGG boots to replace those. Forget it! I hope Schultz enjoyed chewing them, because there's not going to be another pair!

  7. okay, this may be a stupid question, but why were the boots in the middle of the floor?

    1. Because my daughter kicks them off when she comes home. The family room is right where the entrance is, so that's where they land. (And she doesn't put them away.)

    1. UGG boots do not survive wet situations. They permanently stain.

    1. I agree, but Schultz knows the rules. He was being a bad boy.

  10. Haha, I like that! My dog has no interest in shoes. I don't know what gene she's missing but she's never cared for chewing them up.

    1. My dog definitely has a thing for shoes. When we got him as a puppy, the first things he went after were shoes.

  11. Oh, Mama, this might be a very expensive lesson on putting things where they belong. If I were Schultz, I would probably slobber on them, too.

  12. I had a puppy dig out and chew up my MP3 cord...twice. And my favorite pair of boots. After that, I learned to always dog proof the house. Even without dogs now, I still pick up things that would otherwise be chewed up.

  14. Oh no, I can understand why your daughter was upset with Schultz. I guess he doesn't understand how expensive they are.

  15. I am glad my dog has never taken to shoes... I also shook my head a few days ago when I daughter had her UGGs on--I reminded her we weren't in Michigan anymore but she said girls here are wearing them and I shook my head for it seems they'd be too hot.

    1. Yes, girls here are wearing them. And for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

  17. A dog being in the dog house... HAH!!

Poor doggy... I'm sure if I were a dog, those boots would look like a big chew toe to me as well...

  18. Yikes! Dogs will chew anything and they don't know the cost of UGG boots- that is for sure. UGGs probably look very good to dogs!

    1. I'm sure they do. They're the same color as his fur. And he likes chewing on his fur. (Yes, he's weird!)
