The Art Project

My teenage daughter came out of her room with glitter all over her face.

"Um, you look a little sparkly," I said.

She nodded.  "Yeah.  I was trying to get glitter on my eyelids, but I ended up spilling it all over the place."

"Oh," I said.  "Was that glitter, makeup glitter?"

"No.  It's the glitter you gave me."

I frowned. "You realize that was supposed to be for art projects, not makeup applications, don't you?"

She looked at me and grinned.  "But Mom, my face is an art project!"

  1. LOL! Glitter sticks everywhere and is so hard to get up. We have a glitter bunny statue, and the cat sometimes ends up with glitter on her from sitting too close to it.

  2. She has a point. Makeup is art, isn't it?
Yeah, good luck getting it all out of the carpet now.

  3. Sounds like me when I was a kid. I loved experimenting with makeup and all sorts of stuff on my face.

  4. LOL. I can only imagine how hard it was to wash all that glitter off!

    1. I don't think she was thinking about that when she put it on.

  5. True...*nodding sagely*...our faces are our art projects!

  6. Great comeback! I remember those days... maybe it's time to play with my face again, or am I too old for that?

    1. No. You are never too old to make your face an art project.

  7. Glitter is such a mess. I've never glittered myself. Should I try? (Look at the verb I created.)

    1. I like your verb. You should have it added to the dictionary.

    1. Yes. We are two similar art projects.

  9. I went through the glitter phase when I was about 13. Twilight came out after that and I suddenly regretted it even more. What was already a cringe-moment increased tenfold.

    1. I don't think I've ever fully recovered after seeing Edward Pattinson as a glittery vampire!

  11. I hope it was an easy thing to remedy. She's just as imaginative as Bubba! :)

  12. Every time I clean my project room I find glitter and I can't even remember the last time I used it. It's invasive and possibly alien in origin.

    1. Haha! I wonder what planet it came off of.

  14. So cute, Sherry. Your daughter is right, "her face is an art project". :-)

  15. Haha. I am not fond of glitters. They stick where they're not wanted. And they make "art project" faces from every one.
