Cookie Crisis

Usually, I bake homemade cookies every week. This week, I simply didn't have time. Apparently, this was a problem.

As I sat at the computer, doing my work, I heard a strange sound - something that resembled the sound of a siren.

I wondered which member of my household was making it. I guessed either my son or my husband.

It was my husband.

"What's the big emergency?" I asked.

"There are no cookies in the house," he said.

I shrugged. "Sorry. I ran out of time to bake them this week. You'll have to eat fruit."

He shook his head. "We can't have this."  He grabbed his keys and headed out the door.

When he came back twenty minutes later, he had a bag full of - you guessed it - boxes of cookies. Three boxes to be exact.

"Seriously?" I asked. "Was that necessary?"

"Absolutely!"

He took one whole box for himself and disappeared into his office. When he came out, half of the box was eaten.

I shook my head. There is no doubt in my mind that I live with the cookie monster!

  4. Hi, dear Sherry! You should remind your husband that half a box of cookies = 5 hours on the treadmill. I'm a fruit nut. I would much rather snack on fruit than on sweets of any kind.

I hope your week is off to a great start, dear friend Sherry!

  5. The cookie monster in the flesh! :P I'm with Shady...I'd pick up fruit before a cookie...unless I badly craved a cookie with my afternoon pick-me-up.

    1. When you consider that there are a dozen large cookies in each box, I'd say six cookies was quite a lot!

  8. LOL! I could almost hear him growling "Cookies!" as he shut the door to his office. ;)

  14. You have trained them to love the cookie, lol. My daughter loves to bake so I can see how it would be weird not to have a cake at some point in the week,

    1. "I've trained them to love cookies." You're probably right. I'll have to retrain them to love fruit.

  15. I"m sure the cookies your husband bought weren't as good as yours! He might have eaten the whole box in that case. :)

  20. NO COOKIES? What were you thinking? I also live with a cookie monster but alas a cookie monster who is used to buying his cookies there never being any home baked on offer. Actually I'd best not let him see this post or he will come away feeling hard done by.

  22. How sad that he didn't pull out the fixings for 'real' cookis and make them himself. *sigh* He might have ended up with the cookie baking job since, in my experience, men really like to bake cookies and tend to take over the job after frowning down the baker's neck.

    1. I don't think we have all the fixings for real cookies. His only option was to buy boxes.

  23. Bet they weren't as good as yours... but fruit is not an acceptable alternative!

  24. He really likes his cookies. I've left the house at various times, even late at night, for cravings, so I understand where he's coming from.

  27. LOL. I don't keep sweets in the house because my youngest goes berserk, but my hubby does like to keep a stash of treats just for himself.

    1. No, I checked. The comments are still on, and I can comment. Others seem to be able to do so as well. Maybe it was just some strange temporary glitch. Hopefully next time you try, it will work.
