Dream Job

Today, I'm over at Tara Robinson's new blog, Really Real Housewives. (Yes, I'm really one of those!) I'm talking about how to survive your child's birthday party. Even if you don't have kids, you might find it an entertaining read. Please stop by!

Now, for something a little different. Michael G. D'Agostino has this thing he does called Question of the Month. I decided to participate. This month's question is, "What's the best job you've ever had?"

Well, that's easy. Being a music teacher. Music is my passion, and I love sharing my knowledge with others, watching them grow as musicians, develop self-confidence, and enjoy making music. I am so lucky that I get to do it just about every day of my life!

What's the best job you've ever had?

  1. Writing works for me. But doesn't pay the bills, so 9-5 it is, ugg lol

  3. Hi, dear Sherry! It might be hard for you to believe but, as much as I love music, I have very little musical talent and it was my worst subject in school. I got a "D" in it in 7th grade!

The best job I ever had was working as production manager at a television station patterned after MTV. I was there in the 80s and 90s and had the chance to meet, interview and hang out with many of the leading rock and heavy metal bands of the period. It was a heady experience!

Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Sherry!

    1. Your production manager job sounded like a lot of fun. I bet you met some really interesting people.

You go a "D" in music? I didn't think anybody got "D's" in music. Must've been something not quite right with the teacher. I'm glad you enjoy music, though!

  5. Oh wow, you're a music teacher! An impressive job indeed, Sherry. Well, my dream job was to be a Flight Attendant to travel round the world & I'm happy to have realized that dream. I was in the airline for 7 yrs spending many happy moments :D

    1. I love travelling, too. I applied to be a flight attendant, but didn't get the job. It probably worked out better that way. I bet you have some great stories to tell from your experience!

  6. You work in a school as a music teacher or privately?

    1. I teach private lessons in a school. (Violin, viola, and piano.) I don't teach in classroom settings with classes full of kids, unless I'm doing workshops. I personally like one on one instruction. I really get to know each student well, and tailor the instruction to their individual learning styles.

    1. It's nice when you can work from home. I did that for a long time, and it was good to be there when my kids came home from school. I was able to help them with their homework and spend more time with them.

The best job I've ever had? That would be the one I have now, being a university Teach and all... But I'd rather play the violin. I'm not kidding.

  16. Definitely sounds like fun. I gave up on music but I had some great teachers. The best job is the one I've got now - OK, writing doesn't pay, but I can edit too!

  27. I enjoyed reading your awesome guest post and party planning tips on the really real housewives. The luckiest people in the world are those who found early and are doing what they're passionate about. I found mine and I remember it was you who suggested it (Interior Design) many years ago on one of my blog posts while I was still searthing for it.
