Bath Bomb

My teenaged daughter is a girly-girl. She likes makeup, fashion, and spa experiences. Her latest craze is something called the bath bomb. It's a multi-colored perfumed chunk of rock that you throw in a bath. I wasn't quite sure what it did, but I found out rather quickly.

Last night, she decided to bath-bomb my tub.

"Mom, check this out," she said after she had tossed in the bomb.

I watched as this thing fizzed and made the water turn pink.

I nodded. "That's nice," I said.

"Keep watching."

I did. The water turned purple. It had a very distinct smell, too. "Okay. You enjoy your bath."

Apparently she did. When I checked my tub after she was finished, I got the full affect of the bomb part. Gold glitter covered every part of the tub. It looked like a leprechaun's pot of gold blew up in there.

(I had to check and see if my daughter had turned into a leprechaun. She didn't, but she definitely had a certain sparkle about her!)

Here's a video in case you'd like to see the bath bomb phenomenon:

  1. The gold in the video kinda reminds me of something else in the water haha at least your tub was left shiny

    1. I was thinking the same thing. I don't think I could've taken a bath in it! ;-)

  3. I think my sister has used something similar in our tub before. It's neat the way the water changes color.

  4. Hi, dear Sherry!

I never heard of a bath bomb and I just asked Mrs. Shady and she drew a blank, too. It's a fascinating product. I love to watch it spin. Not to be outdone by his sister, I'm sure Bubba created a similar effect by dumping 500 boxes of Fizzies into his bath water! :)

    Happy Wednesday, dear friend Sherry!

    1. Haha! I wouldn't put him past it to do such a thing!

      Enjoy your day, too, Shady!

  5. My daughter has been asking about getting these too.. how nice for me to have extra to clean up when I can't use my knees anyway.... not to mention the blue chalk she used last year that stained the tub... Maybe her father will come over and clean it for her... lol ... have a great day Sherry xox

    1. Tell her she needs to clean the tub herself if she wants to do it. I'm still trying to get gold sparkles out of my tub!

  6. I would've loved that as a kid. Heck, I'm still a big kid at heart. I'd love it now! ;) But I can only image the cleanup. Cleaning the tub is my least favorite chore.

    2. I hate cleaning tubs, too! It's so difficult to reach over and get every last spot. Thanks for the nomination. I'll mention you too, when I put up my post.

  7. The bath bomb looks like fun. I can image the clean up would be a bit tough. Funny how it spins so on its own.

  8. So it stays on your body too?

    1. Yes. My daughter definitely had gold sparkles on her when she was done. I don't think I'd like that kind of residue on my body!

  9. Never heard of it. And I wouldn't like to soak in a tub with glitter going...everywhere...I guess that makes me old...

    1. Haha! You and me both. I like coming out of a bath or shower clean - without sparkles.

  10. Well, it's cool, but I think I'd have to insist all bath bombing be done outdoors in a No. 3 washtub!

    1. Hi Barbara! Good to see you again! I think your idea to bath bomb outdoors is a good one!

  11. I remember running into a purveyor of bath bombs at a craft fair/festival a while back. As I don't take baths, I discovered that you could put them in the shower for a spa-something effect. Didn't really live up to the hype.

    1. I couldn't imagine using them in a shower. I prefer showers, myself, so I don't think I'd be too big into bath bombs.

  12. Daughters are just fab, aren't they? And they never clean the tub out afterwards!! Aagghh! It looks like something out of a SyFy movie. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Tell me about it. My daughter's bathroom is harder to clean than anybody else's in the house!

  13. I hope my daughter doesn't see this but if she does, she has her own tub that she cleans!

  14. I love Reading Your Stories. Every Story is Unique and Cute. Also Have been hearing alot about these Bath bombs but never tried one. But thank You for letting me know the post effects of a Bath Bomb :)

  15. I've never tried the bath bomb. But (my OC side) it seems to me that cleaning up after glitters stuck on a tub is not going to compensate for the stress free relaxing experience of the soak. :)

  16. I have never seen a sparkly bath bomb- just regular white ones. This sounds very exciting and colorful. :)
