Drippy Nose

There was a drippy nose in my household, and it wasn't mine. It wasn't my husband's, or my daughter's, or even Bubba's. It was Schultz's! He's our hundred-pound German Shepherd.

The hairy beast had apparently contracted a canine cold. He kept trying to wipe his nose with his paw. It wasn't working so well. My daughter saw this, and decided to help him out. She grabbed some tissues and wiped his big, black sniffer.

He thought this was some kind of game. He rolled on his back and tried to eat the tissue.

"Schultz!" my daughter yelled. "Cut it out!"

He didn't. Soon the tissue was in shreds.

My daughter got up and huffed, "Fine. Have a drippy nose. See if I care!"

What did Schultz do? He got up, walked over to our sofa, and used it as his personal hanky.

"Schultz!" I bellowed. I gave the beast my meanest Mommy look and banished him to his crate.

Ugh! Yet another job for the steam cleaner.

  1. Ick. You need a doggy "scratching post". But for noses.

    1. Haha. I wonder if Bootsy would let him use his scratching post for such purposes.

  2. Why use a tissue when you can use furniture? :P

  5. Hi, Sherry!

Poor Schultz! He meant well. Didn't you know that a coating of dog mucus (or slobber, drivel or drool) seals in your sofa's freshness so that it lasts longer? You should be thanking him! :)

    Happy Thursday, dear friend Sherry!

    1. I had no idea. I should give him a treat for prolonging the life of our sofa. ;-)

  6. Faulkner's nose dripped all the time. I thought it had something to do with his breed. Anyway, I'm used to having dog snot and slobber on everything. Schultz is sorry. He told me to tell you.

    Love,

  9. I'm still reeling from the fact that your large German Shepard is named Schultz! My 16 year old makes us watch Hogan's Hero's every night.

    1. This is the first dripping nose incident he's had. Usually he just looks a little mopey when he doesn't feel good.

  12. Hehehehe, doggy boogers! My dogs will shred any tissue they can find. Thankfully, they haven't wiped their noses on the furniture yet.

    1. I've heard other German Shepherd owners say that their dogs use sofas as hankies. Probably because they're so big.

  13. Hope he's better.

I forgot that he was a German Shepherd. I pictured him as a Great Dane.

    1. He's a big boy. Much more muscular than a Great Dane. He does seem to be feeling better.

  15. LOL. At least he didn't try to eat the sofa, like he did the tissue! XD

  16. Aaaww I hope the sniffles get better soon. We had a German Shepherd when we were kids. It lived 16 years so was a huge part of our lives. I loved that dog so much and she loved me back. Many fond memories. Great post!

  18. My dog leaves drool puddles on the couch from sleeping. I can't imagine snot on top of that. I hope Schultz feels better soon!
