Rude Awakening

Yesterday when my daughter came home from school, I noticed she had pictures drawn all over her arm. Some were in pen, and others were in marker.

"Why did you draw on your arm?" I asked.

"I didn't."

I looked at her funny. "What do you mean?"

"My friend did it. I passed out during biology class. She did it while I was sleeping."

Nice friend.

(Apparently doing homework until 3:00 AM is taking its toll on my daughter.)

So, have any of you ever fallen asleep, and awakened to discover something strange had been done to you?

    1. I'm sure that's happened to you quite a few times!

  2. At least it was on her arm and not her forehead...

Seems to be a teen thing. They like to draw all over each other. I've seen it quite a bit. But usually all parties are awake.

  3. I've seen people do that at parties to someone who's passed out.

    1. I've heard of it, but I've never seen it done.

  4. That would have to be a strange feeling to wake up and find drawings on your arm. Hope she gets some rest soon.

  5. No, I haven't. But don't teachers wake up students who are sleeping in class or stop them from writing on each other anymore? I am feeling very old right now.

    1. Apparently not. I don't think teachers care about what's happening.

  6. Well, I woke up one day, I looked in the mirror and discovered I looked old! "Who did that to me?!!"

    Of course, nobody answered.

    1. Funny. The same thing has been happening to me. ;)

  7. Never had something like this happen to me, thankfully. (I'm such an insomniac that it's hard to even catch me sleeping, LOL.) Back in high school, though, I once knew someone whose hair had been colored with markers without her knowing. Hard to believe some people can actually get away with stuff like this in class!

    1. That's funny. Teachers seem to be oblivious. Or maybe they just don't want to get involved.

  8. I've never experienced such a thing. If I were the teacher, I would tell the budding artist to cut it out.

  9. Never fell asleep in class. AND never drew on anyone, incl. my siblings. I was really sick, fever and such, when my oldest brother walked by my bed. He touched my forehead, making me think it was a touch of kindness. No. He planted a big booger there. So much for kindness.

    1. Haha! Nice brother! Such a typical brotherly move.

  10. I can't even stay up until 3 am and I'm a healthy adult. I'd probably nap in class, too. Plus, free washable tattoos, apparently.

  11. I had a picture made of me once years ago at my mother-in-laws house. I had fell asleep on her couch and our Boston Terrier crawled up and went to sleep on my head. That's the only thing I ever remember having done. My daughter has just let people decorate part of her arms/hands with ink. I'd rather that than she get REAL ink.

  12. Ive never done that. It must've been quite a shock to wake up to that kind of surprise.

  13. No, but yesterday I accidentally fell asleep on my boyfriend's pillow. I woke up to hearing him come in from work...and discovered I was laying in a puddle of drool.

    I'm very classy.

  17. My son came home very late from a party one summer when he was in college. I happened to still be up but I was sleepy so it took me a moment to realize why he looked so strange. He had evidently dozed off/passed out (depending on the viewpoint) and the girls at the party had given him a total makeover. Eye makeup, lipstick, blush, the whole nine yards. He was lovely. (Don't worry, he didn't drive home.)

    1. Haha! I bet he looked great. I wonder if the girls took some pictures after his makeover.

  18. I never went out that deep at school, but I've heard stories. Thankfully, I'm a light sleeper, because there were definitely times--like when I was in a musical and didn't get home until 3 AM for a week straight...

    1. I think a lot of kids do because they're so exhausted from the late hours of doing homework.

  20. I have never woken up and had any weird thing happen but I do see kids today will take any opportunity they can... Although I too passed out in class a few times, one time during an exam.. haha (luckily I passed)

  21. Poor thing:( Time to put her in some Judo classes;) That'll keep a few troublemakers back:)

    1. Fortunately, the person who did it was a friend, so my daughter had a little more patience with her.

  22. Oh no! That would annoy me too as a mom. Ink is not meant for skin. I don't remember anyone pranking me while I was asleep, but my husband loves to recall the time I was snoring with a cat on my chest. The cat reached out a paw and put it over my snoring lips. Et tu, kitty?

  23. It's never happened to me, but I've witnessed it. When I was a teenager, I went to a house party. The person hosting the party got drunk and passed out, and a couple of his friends shaved off all the hair on one side of his head. Not the whole head, which probably would have been preferable!

  25. I feel asleep in high school while working at SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving). There were 4 of us working- and the others decided to draw all over my face with marker. I would have preferred the arm...

  26. With consent yes. My brother, sisters and I used to draw on each others' legs and arms with ballpoint pens pretending they're tattoos.
