How to Solve a Rubiks Cube

There are many ways to solve a Rubiks Cube.  For those of you who might not be familiar with what one is, it's a cube puzzle with lots of colored squares. The goal is to have each side the same color. To achieve this, most people rotate the rows of the cube.  Other people, like myself, peel off the stickers and reattach them in the proper place.

My son? Well, he's not like most people. He's not even like me.

The other day, I found his Rubiks Cube completely disassembled on the floor in his room. Tiny cube-ish squares of color were spread out, making it very difficult to walk.

"Dude," I said. "What's going on here?"

He grinned. "I discovered that you can take the cube apart. Now I'm going to reassemble it to solve the puzzle."

He's still working on it. I suspect it will take him about twenty years to complete. Taking the stickers off would have been so much easier!

If you want to properly solve the cube, learn how by going here.

    1. I never realized there was a method to it, until much later. If I had known that, it would have saved me a bunch of sticker peeling!

  3. I solved it after a long arse time. I also took one apart. Takes a bit to get it back together.

  4. Hi, Sherry!

I never attempted to solve a Rubiks Cube. (Still learning to wave bye-bye.) If anyone can reassemble that Rubiks Cube from scratch, it's your Bubba... even if it takes until his gray whiskers reach the floor. I only hope Shultz doesn't run off with some of the pieces and bury them with his bone. :)

Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Sherry!

    1. I believe Schultz knows better than to run off with tiny things like that. It's the cat I'd be more worried about. ;)

    1. You'd think. But he said he figured how to get one out, and the rest came out naturally.

  6. Your son and I are of a similar mind. That's how I always solved my cube. I still have it. And it's still a bit rickety from the amount of times I broke it apart and put it back together. (It's relatively simple to snap the pieces back into place. 6th grade me was very good at it.)

  8. I've never touched a Rubiks Cube. I knew I couldn't solve it without going crazy. I like the Bubba Plan.

  9. I'm not smart enough to learn how to properly solve the cube. I do bake cookies, though. Not to eat, of course.

    1. I think it's interesting that several of you opted for the taking-it-apart method. How funny!

  13. I had a Rubiks cube as a kid. Was never able to figure out. Peeling off the stickers or completely disassembling it never came to mind, either! XD

  16. At least maybe Bubba wont' be bored if he's putting it back together. I was always horrible with those things but our boys were great at getting them lined up.
