There was a little excitement at my pad a couple of nights ago. My nine-year-old son, Bubba created a slightly more than minor problem.
It happened during bath time. He took his bath, as usual. But then, about an hour later, something happened. It started raining in our kitchen. I'm talking some serious water coming through the ceiling. My husband arrived from a business trip in time to see it.
"Oh my God," he said as he walked in the door and turned on the light. "What the @!%^& is that?"
I looked up. Water was dripping through the ceiling by the light. "Whoa," I said, completely mortified. "Uh, that just happened. I think it's coming from the upstairs bathroom."
I ran to take a look. I fully expected to see an inch of water on the floor. Although the towels and bath mat were quite damp, there was no tell-tale water to be seen.
"Wake up the boy," my husband ordered.
Poor Bubba was sound asleep, and completely groggy, but I woke him up.
"What happened in the bathroom?" I asked.
Apparently, he had some fun splashing in the bathtub and a lot of water spilled out. It went through the seams around the tub and through our kitchen ceiling. My husband got out the drill and made some more holes in the ceiling. You should've seen the water pour out! It had to be a couple of gallons. So now, ladies and gentlemen, this is what my kitchen ceiling looks like:
Isn't it lovely?
Oy!
That was some serious splashing! Sorry about your ceiling.
ReplyDeleteLife goes on. At least he had fun!
DeleteI'm glad I own a one story!
ReplyDeleteI've have had similar experiences ,but they involve animals in the Bath with the kids...
We never had problems like this in our old house, even when a lot of water got on the floor. It was the seams that caused the problem. Ugh!
DeleteOh, man. I'm sorry about your ceiling.
ReplyDeleteI think my week has been a little like yours. Hopefully things will improve for both of us!
DeleteOH DEAR!!!!!! Sorry about your kitchen Sherry.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
OH DEAR!!!!! is right!
DeleteWhat? Is your house made of candy and grass? :)
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the sentence: "Wake up the boy," my husband ordered." sent shivers down my spine :) Such suspense!
Yes. Ominous indeed!
DeleteSorry about your ceiling. I know you didn't need this kind of excitement in your life. Hope it is not too much of a horror to get fixed. Wishing you the best.
ReplyDeleteNo. This was not the excitement I needed. Our kitchen is a major construction zone now. I can't use it. Hopefully everything will get repaired soon!
DeleteThe timing of these incidents is phenomenal, isn't it? Plumbing has annoyed me many times in the past. . .
ReplyDeleteIt's just unbelievable! I am glad that I didn't have to deal with it myself when my husband was still out of town!
DeleteOhhh nooo!!!! Glad it wasn't something worse, though...
ReplyDeleteTrue!
DeleteTook splish splash to a whole new level
ReplyDeleteYes. I hope it never gets to that level again!
DeleteGoing to have to take his bathes outside with the hose
ReplyDeleteI'll hose him off with the dog. ;0)
DeleteSounds like quite the mess
ReplyDeleteIt was! I was the clean-up crew, and it took forever to clean up the water and drywall!
Delete=( SOO no cool. We had something like that happen in my living room about a year ago. We never were able to figure out where it came from though--since the bathroom is nowhere near the living room and it hasn't happened since. Definitely had me freaked out though.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you. When stuff like this happens, it just makes you sick!
DeleteOy. Indeed.
ReplyDeleteNot much more one can say!
DeleteOh, Sherry! Water dripping through the ceilings is a truly scary sight. We had it raining in our home office once after a friend who wasn't actually a plumber but plays one on the weekends "fixed" our upstairs shower. Oy. Good word.
ReplyDeleteGuess you learned not to hire a pretend plumber! What a terrible experience for you!
DeleteHoly crow! Not good at all. Just glad the whole tub didn't fall through.
ReplyDeleteI was really afraid that would happen. But the wood beams between the floors were strong enough to hold everything up.
DeleteOh, dear. Reminds me of the time Favorite Young Man clogged up the toilet upstairs and then flushed it in spite of warnings from The Hurricane. It rained in the downstairs bathroom.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Yuck! Actually my son did that at his Grandpa's house not too long ago. That was another mess!
DeleteYIKES! Sounds like it'd be great fodder for a children's picture book though :-) Educational, too!
ReplyDeleteI have so many stories that would be good for picture books. If only I had the time to write them all!
DeleteOh no, cleaning up must have been a nightmare and it must be pretty annoying to see the ceiling every day.
ReplyDeleteClean up was a nightmare! I did it all myself. The contractor is here now trying to fix everything, so my kitchen is completely unusable.
DeleteUh-oh. I've experienced this in the past. Not a pretty sight.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with you!
DeleteOh my gosh! I'm so sorry about your ceiling. I hope it won't cost too much to repair.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I hope you can get it fixed. We've had some water damage on our roof lately too, but from ice damns.
