Fan Dog

You may recall that I took my son to a baseball game a few days ago.  While we were there, we got one of those foam hands with the finger pointing up that says, "Number One Fan."  My son loved this thing.  Apparently, our hundred pound German Shepherd, Schultz, loved it, too.  Because yesterday we found it on the ground, looking a little chewed up.

"Schultz!" my son yelled.  "Bad dog!"

Schultz gave Bubba a melancholy look and slinked off to the corner where he plopped down on the ground for a self-imposed time out.

I guess he just couldn't resist the smell of barbecue chicken wings and cotton candy!  (See previous post regarding Mister Sticky Fingers for that story.)

  1. Maybe that's Karma and what your son gets for placing sticky fingers in your hair?

  2. C'mon who can resists BBQ wings and cotton candy!? I can't. I would have gobbled the thing myself! The timeout would have been worth it :)

  4. Ahhh, Schultz. At least he was repentant...

  5. Oh yeah. That smell would be irresistible to Schultz! :)

  6. Schultz just had to see if there was any food hidden in there

  7. It would have been the smell, doubt Schultz is a fan of baseball.

So did you go to see the Braves? We've been to Turner Stadium, but I thought it was being renovated. . .I like the baseballs for every team all lined up outside the stadium and the statues to baseball greats! Hubs is a Braves fan, even up here.

    1. We saw the Gwinnett Braves at Coolray Field. That's the minor league team. We'll see the Atlanta Braves later in the season.

  8. Nice! Schultz was doing you a favor. You can get Bubba a new one that is cleaner!

    1. Right away Bubba asked if we could go to another game so he could get another foam hand.

  10. Maybe Schultz was expressing his feelings about foam fingers in light of Miley Cyrus's performance with one earlier this year...

    1. You have a point. Maybe he wants to ban foam fingers everywhere!

  11. Hi Sherry! My dog's a chewer of "good-smelly-things" too. Shoes that have been through the woods are his favorite...

    1. My dog used to have a thing for shoes, but we've broken him of that habit.

  12. Schultz should never be called a bad dog. He's a little angel.

    1. Ha! This morning he woke us all up at 4:30 because a deer was walking around outside our house. You should've heard him barking! Schultz is a bad dog, and you would think so, too if he woke you up at 4:30 in the morning! ;0)

    2. Would not. He's just protecting you. Faulkner always woke me up at night if one of the other dogs got sick or needed to go out. Show Schultz some gratitude.

  13. What dog could resist those smells? Not mine! Agree with Janie. Perhaps your son has learned a valuable lesson about where he leaves his foam fingers?

    1. Definitely not on the coffee table! Schultz pulled the foam finger right off of it.

  14. I don't think I could have resisted those delicious aromas. Schultz didn't eat all of the pointy finger thingy. Such self-restraint.

  16. Well, it could have been many worse things than the foam finger... I think you got off pretty easy. ;)

    1. It used to be much worse than foam fingers. I had hoped we wouldn't see any more chewed things. No such luck.

  17. At least Schultz spit the pieces out. Too bad the foam finger was so tempting to him.

  18. Hi Sherry, tell Bubba that dogs can't resist barbecue chicken wings and cotton candy. And Schultz sounds quite sweet.

    1. He can be. Most of the time. He's like the little girl with the curl - when he's good, he's very, very good. When he's bad, he's very, very bad!

  19. I'm impressed, my Boston Terrier would have shredded the whole thing in under five seconds. Not too much damage.

    1. In his younger years, I'm sure Schultz would've chewed it to pieces in about 2 seconds. Maybe he realized what he was doing wasn't so good, and he stopped.

  20. Aw I can just imagine Schultz's face. I have a weakspot for puppy dog eyes..
