Crazy Mama

This past weekend, my son and I went up to Ohio for my dad's birthday, and for my high school 25 year class reunion.  We didn't fly.  We drove.  Which was completely nuts!  It took fourteen hours to get there, and a little over twelve to come back.

Near the end of our trip, we made a stop for dinner - at Subway.  Behind the Subway shop, was the Georgia Winery.  I knew I had to go there!

"Bubba," I said.  "We're going to make a little stop at the winery before we leave."

He looked at me funny.  "Okay, Mama.  Whatever."

Then I got a funny look in my eye.  "And do you know what else?"

"What else, Mama?"

"I'm going to play my violin over there."

He nearly choked on his sandwich.  "You are not!"

"Yep, I am."

He grinned.  "That's insane!  Mama, you're just overtired and acting immature!"

I giggled.

He giggled.

Pretty soon we were both laughing really hard.

"Okay, come on.  I'm going to play!"  I got up, went back to the car, and grabbed my violin.  I walked over to the winery, where a bunch of people were standing around in the parking lot.  And I started playing.

My son shook his head.  "Mama, if the police come and arrest you, I'm going to tell them I had nothing to do with it!"

And guess what?  I have pictures to prove it.  So you who like pictures - don't fall off your chair for this!

Here's the sign above the entrance of the Georgia Winery.

Here's me playing some lovely Bach music outside the winery.

And as an added bonus, here's me at my reunion Mass with a few of my former classmates.  (I played for it, which is why I had the violin in the first place!)

  3. A professional performance! Not crazy at all. Tell him he needs to come to one of my band's performances if he wants crazy.

  5. You go, girl! You look so cute, playing your violin. Like a teen! My 25-year reunion was last year...we can't possibly be old enough to be having a 25-year h.s. reunion, can we?

    1. Haha! Everyone tells me I look like I'm twelve years old. So there's no way you or I could possibly be old enough for a 25 year reunion!

  6. You and Elisa need to get together, violins in hand. You'd have the world on a string. Two beautiful young women, playing violins so beautifully.

    Love,
    Janie

  8. What fun! You gave those folks at the winery a free concert. What more could they possibly want? (They already HAD the wine...)

    1. Haha! Yes, I can be a little crazy - especially when I'm overtired. No, I didn't get any free wine. That probably would've been a bad thing, since I had to drive a little longer to get home!

  14. Wow, such fun. I wish I had known about the impromptu performance at the winery, that's less than a couple of hours from me. Just think of the tales Bubba can tell his friends now. :)

    1. That's funny you said that, because Bubba always asks me to stay in the living room to practice when he's in there working on the computer. He says he likes listening to me. The first time he told me that, I nearly fell over!

I'm full of lots of insanity. Which is probably why I have so many stories to tell!

  17. What a fun trip. Yes, that's a long drive, but well worth it to meet up with high school buds and be spontaneous with your music.

  18. I'm right there with ya- I took a street performers trumpet when it was offered and played a little jazz right there on the spot. It was fun and made me feel super free and young. I'm glad you had a great trip and that you still had your humor even after a long drive.

You have to have a sense of humor - otherwise you cry! ;0)
