I never check the pockets of my family's pants before I throw them into the wash. I expect them to do that. Maybe that's expecting too much. Yesterday, I found all of the contents of my husband's wallet strewn across the kitchen table. And of course, everything was wet.
My husband walked into the room. "Woman, when are you going to stop laundering money?"
I shrugged. "Either when you start emptying your pockets, or when the police come and take me away. Whichever comes first!"
So, ladies and gentlemen. If I suddenly disappear from the blogosphere, you know that I have been caught and thrown in the brig for all of my shenanigans!
I've gotten better about checking because yes, my wife has laundered money before. Fortunately not the whole wallet though!
ReplyDeleteI've done the whole wallet quite a few times!
Deleteyou could be a prison fiddler in jail :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the jailbirds would find me very entertaining!
DeleteIt has happened to me before. I usually find pebbles that my son puts in his pockets.
ReplyDeleteChap stick is the other thing that gets laundered a lot.
DeleteI once left my cell phone in my jeans pocket.....totally ruined of course.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Major bummer!
DeleteI have a friend and her rule is, any money she finds in the pockets, is all hers. She stashes it away, and considers it part of her fee. She told me that she told her family this is the rule. One time she found a fifty in her hubby's pocket, and kept it. He started watching better after that.
ReplyDeleteI like that rule. Maybe I should incorporate it at my pad!
DeleteIt's like fun money.
DeleteI absolutely refused to check pockets early in the marriage when I saw X kill a bug and put it in his pocket. Yes, you know he's strange. Any wet money I found in the washing machine was mine, all mine.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
X and the bug were strange. You're better off without them!
DeleteMoney laundering taken to a brand new level. Always good to check pockets before going into the washing machine. End up breaking the washing machine which you get fixed by using your laundered money :)
ReplyDeleteGary
Isn't that the truth!
DeleteThankfully with my ocd, my pockets are good and empty
ReplyDeleteThat's a good thing!
DeleteI do the laundry and I'm always taking stuff out of my boyfriend's pockets. I learned fast after price tags, pens, change, and a lighter all showed up within two loads of clothes.
ReplyDeleteAs a mom doing unbelievable amounts of laundry, I just don't have time to go through pockets. I'm glad you're able to stop the money laundering with your boyfriend! ;0)
DeleteNow I know where dirty money comes from. Cute story. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of it at our house!
DeleteYou are very brave! I am constantly checking pockets before washing anything and I find so much! The worst is when I miss something and there is shredded paper all over the inside of the washing machine. :)
ReplyDeleteI hate that! Or shredded Kleenex!
DeleteMoney Laundering.. :)
ReplyDeleteThe only reason I check pockets now is because i kept ruining washing machines!
Thankfully, I haven't ruined any washing machines!
DeleteI have a rule--if I find money in someone's pocket, it's mine! You might be able to save enough to buy yourself something over the course of a year. My stepdaughter is the worst about leaving junk in her pockets--usually gum wrappers.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't done pretty good if I had had that rule in my house.
DeleteYay, someone with the same rule as me. I'm with Stephanie in that if I find spare change in a pocket its rightfully mine. A shame that its generally pens I find.
ReplyDeleteRight. Pens. What good are they? ;0)
DeleteAfter laundering money, wallets, pens, packs of gum, and other assorted items, I decided it was time to check the pockets. I've save a cellphone, box cutter, coins, and other items by now checking pockets. I consider myself very lucky that I never had to call a repairman out to do repairs on my washing machine.
