Last night was movie night. As is the custom, we popped some popcorn and plopped down on the sofa in front of the TV. Our hundred pound German Shepherd, Schultz, joined us. He lay quietly in front of the screen and watched us watch the idiot box.
About a half hour into the movie, we heard firecrackers. They sounded like they were being shot off in our driveway. Of course we had to investigate. We got up and went outside.
Our neighbors were shooting off some fireworks in the cul-de-sac in front of our house. We watched the spectacle for a little while, and then went inside.
That's when we found a big surprise. Schultz decided he wanted some popcorn. He had knocked the bowl off the table and was happily munching away.
"Schultz!" my husband bellowed.
Schultz stopped munching and slinked off to the corner. So much for enjoying movie night with the rest of the pack!
Poor Schultz. He should have his share, and if you are going to abandon yours, then it belongs to witta Schultzie.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Well...Schultz is part of the family (-:
ReplyDeleteYes. And he thinks he should be able to eat what we humans eat!
DeleteMy mom and I started "puppy proofing" the house when we got a puppy a few years ago and it destroyed my MP3 cord and favorite boots. We decided until she was trained, any food or chewable things that were destroyed but left out was our fault. Unfortunately, she was never able to be trained not to help herself to everything. A few times, my mom had a non-kid friendly drink on the table and the puppy got ahold of it. She felt horrible. I was too busy laughing at the drunk dog who got a hangover.
ReplyDeleteWow. I'm glad she didn't die from the inebriation fiasco!
DeleteOh, poor Schultz!
ReplyDeleteLife's tough for the dog!
DeletePoor Schultz. He probably needed a snack to calm his nerves after the loud firecrackers.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that's exactly what he was thinking!
DeleteI agree with Murees. Poor ol' Schultz just needed a little something-something to take his mind off the loud noises. Besides, he probably likes popcorn, and was grabbing his fair share before his people ate it all.
ReplyDeleteFair is fair!
Deletegood thing he didn't switch on some naughty movies too while you were out.....
ReplyDeleteHe'd probably turn on 101 Dalmatians.
DeleteYou left it where he could get to it - in the house unattended!
ReplyDeleteSchultz wanted a party all his own
ReplyDeleteHe almost had one!
DeleteDog rule book. If it is on the floor, it is theirs. How it gets on the floor, matters not.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Exactly.
DeleteMy mom was once sitting on the sofa with a bowl of chips on the coffee table in front of her. She watched the dog casually stroll toward the window, then make a sudden beeline for the chips, grab a mouthful, and run off to hide and eat them! They were too busy laughing to stop him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a silly dog!
DeletePoor Schultz. He probably wanted to see what the rest of the family had been enjoying. Y'all left so he figured it was his. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's logical!
DeleteHe took advantage of a situation...good dog!
ReplyDeleteHe has to take advantage whenever he can!
DeleteSchultz saw his opportunity and he took it. Our cockier spaniel, Bentley, doesn't like the fireworks. He barks when they go off. I'm glad we didn't have a lot of them this year.
ReplyDeleteDogs ears are really sensitive, so I'm sure fireworks hurt them!
DeleteDog drool... *shudders* He really is just a big toddler, eh?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Schultz was stressed because of the fireworks and he turned into an emotional eater!
ReplyDeleteHa! Could be!
