Bad Genes

My son is a little bit clumsy.  He has a habit of dropping his iPod.  This time, when he dropped it, he cracked the screen.

"Dude, that's not cool," I said.  "You really need to be more careful with your things!"

"But, Mama," he said.  "It's not my fault!"

"What do you mean, 'It's not my fault'?  You're the one who dropped it.  Who else's fault could it be?"

"Yours," he said.

"Mine?"  I couldn't believe it.  "How could it be my fault?"

"You gave me your bad genes for clumsiness.  If you hadn't done that, I wouldn't be dropping my things!"

Right.  (How do I always manage to get blamed for everything?)

  7. Well...you have to give him credit for his smart answer! My stepdaughter drops her phone constantly. She refuses to put it in a purse and when she puts a case on it, she breaks the case. It's an iPhone 4...and she wants a newer iPhone. If she were my daughter, she would have been required to have an Otter Box on that thing from Day 1!

    1. It's amazing how quickly those cases break. For a time, my daughter was going through about one a month!

  10. I'm gonna have to agree with the kid on this one. My grandma once fell off a cliff and was perfectly fine, minus a few scratches. The next day, she was standing perfectly still and managed to fall over and break her elbow. I take after her. I fall and trip on the regular basis. I usually never know where my bruise came from. I even managed to get a concussion from standing up at work and hitting my head on a glass shelf.

There is just no way I'll accept the blame. I blame my genes.

    1. Wow. How could your Grandma fall off a cliff and be perfectly fine? That's pretty mind boggling!

    1. I'm only clumsy at 5:00 in the morning. So I'm going to blame my husband's side for this one. ;0)

    1. I think it's written in fine print on the Mama contract, that once you accept the role of Mama, you automatically get blamed for everything!
