Bootsy, our cat, conducted a science project on our deck yesterday. It was quite elaborate. He had caught a frog and dissected it. I saw the frog's intestines on one deck plank, its spleen on another, and something that resembled a heart about two feet away.
"Bootsy, what did you do?" I asked.
The cat just looked at me and licked his paws.
Two seconds later, my son came outside. He spotted the entrails went into vomit mode.
"Dude," I said. "You have to toughen up. You're going to be dissecting a frog just like this in school, soon!"
He looked at me with a face that matched the color of the dead frog. "No way. I'm sending the cat into school and he can do it!"
That made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteAt least the frog was outside. Just think if the cat had brought it inside...
The cat would have been in big trouble!
DeleteI need to toughen up too as ...Yuck!!.. I'm with your son on this one !!.. send in Bootsy :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Bootsy wouldn't mind!
Deletenobody would notice the difference I'm sure :)
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right!
Deletelet us know how that turns out. should be interesting. probably a few photos?
ReplyDeleteI'm not taking any pictures of that carnage!
DeleteHah!! Love it. You know, they asked my son to dissect a frog in 2nd grade. 2nd GRADE! And then they were surprised and disappointed that he didn't want to do it. Is that crazy or what?
ReplyDelete2nd grade? That's ridiculous! I would not wanted to have dissected a frog in 2nd grade, either!
DeleteROFL Clever kid. Cats have extremely bad taste in gifts.

I would have to agree with that. Today, Bootsy left a chipmunk tail.
DeleteI skipped high school biology for two weeks when it was frog time. The teacher had no control over the class. I didn't want someone throwing dead frog parts at me.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I'm sure that's exactly what would have happened!
Delete*LOL* Smart kid! I never liked dissecting animals either.
ReplyDeleteI did. Pig parts were pretty cool. Maybe I should've been a surgeon!
DeleteHa ha mam I can see the smartness of your son.
ReplyDeleteHe knows what he wants and what he doesn't!
DeleteAww, that poor frog...
ReplyDeleteIt was not a good day for the frog!
DeleteOh, gotta love that comment and agree about sending the cat that day. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the teacher would say!
DeleteSure the cat would love it
ReplyDeleteMore than 20 frogs to dissect. I'm sure the cat would love it!
Deletelol I agree, send the cat they like it more than most humans do
ReplyDeleteYou are so right!
DeleteI dissected a frog when I was a kid, and didn't learn a single thing from doing it. Except that their guts smell terrible, which I believed I knew even before doing that.
ReplyDeleteMy cat's never dissected a frog, but she has performed autopsies on more squirrels than I can count.
My cat has experimented with numerous animals. Today's pick was a chipmunk.
DeleteThat sounds like a good idea! I had to not only dissect a frog in high school--but a fetal pig, as well!!! It was awful.
ReplyDeleteI dissected a pig, too. I actually thought it was pretty cool. But if you don't like guts, then you'd definitely hate it!
DeleteGreat answer!
ReplyDeleteHe's always coming up with brilliant one-liners.
DeleteOh my! Perhaps there is a computer program where you don't have to do actual hands on dissecting? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteToo bad they didn't have one of those for real human surgeries!
DeleteHaha! At least the cat knows how to get it done! I didn't have to do that but that's because I was homeschooled for highschool. Thankfully. I could do it but I would feel super guilty about it.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you didn't have to do it, even as a home schooled student.
DeleteThat surely sounds like a great plan!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a lot of kids would like that plan!
DeleteI shudder when I have to clean up after my cats.
ReplyDeleteI just went out yesterday and hosed off the deck. That cat had a dead bird, dead chipmunk, and dead frog on it. He's a regular killing machine!
DeleteI wonder if the cat can go to school take tests for him as well LOl!
ReplyDeleteIf the cat is smart, I bet he'd like that a lot!
