My ten-year-old son is already contemplating getting his first wheels. He's ready to drive. Or so he thinks. He's been taking a look at different car models, trying to determine which car he'd like. So far, he seems to have an affinity for sports cars. No surprise there.
Yesterday, we were driving around, and he noticed a very nice-looking vehicle. "Mama, what's that?" he asked.
"A Lamborghini," I answered.
"I want one of those for my first car," he said. "Would you buy it for me?"
I tried not to have a heartache. "Dude. There is no way I'm buying that for your first car or your last car!"
I glanced in the rear view mirror and saw his puzzled look. "But why not?" he asked.
"Because your Mama doesn't have money for one of those. So you'd better get a good job. Because if you ever get a Lamborghini, you're going to have to buy it yourself!"
(And then maybe he can buy me one, too!)
At least he has good taste.
ReplyDeleteShow him the website for Bugatti. That will change his mind.
Is a Bugatti even more expensive than a Lamborghini?
DeleteMay as well shoot big haha
ReplyDeleteHe's going for the best!
DeleteHe has taste!.. aim high, and look after Mama too :)
ReplyDeleteThat last part is real important!
DeleteFavorite Young Man has a Porsche. It's red. Maybe Bubba would enjoy a red Porsche.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I'd enjoy a red Porsche. Porsches are cool. And red is my favorite color. So I'm okay with him buying one of those!
DeleteGet him a Matchbox or Hot Wheels replica to keep his dream alive (-:
ReplyDeleteI wonder how he'd like that!
DeleteYou have to have a goal...
ReplyDeleteYes, you do. That's a big one!
DeleteI wish him luck
ReplyDeleteYou and me both!
DeleteCan I be added on the list to get one too?
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who was getting a motorcycle but EVERYTHING went wrong to the point he got it a year late. So everyone made fun of him that, "Yeah and I'm getting a Lamboguini" or "And I'm having dinner with Oprah" until he actually got it. (It lasted three months before a car hit him. The bike was totally but he was fine, minus an arm break. It just wasn't meant to be.)
Aww. That totally stinks for your friend! I'm glad he wasn't hurt worse!
DeleteI'll put you on the list!
Sounds like good advice. :) Better to let him know now! ~Jess

DeleteBoys love their cars. That's a real nice one he chose.
ReplyDeleteBoys do love their cars. My dad is a big car fan. He has two old corvettes. He had more, but storing them was a big pain.
DeleteI used to dream of having one of those when I was a teenager. Instead, the fanciest car I've ever had is a Corolla LOL
ReplyDeleteHaha! I hear you. My Camry probably wasn't much better!
Deletehe should be happy to get a bike :)
ReplyDeleteBut how is he going to drive his dates around on a bike? ;0)
DeleteIf any child has the ability to go far in life and own a Lamborghini one day, it HAS to be Bubba!
ReplyDeleteSo that raises your chances of ever getting one...
I like your thinking!
DeleteThis is second blog (today) I've read about cars. My words to you, Sherry, get that Lamborghini (a nice one from Toys R Us). But when your son get older and buys that Lamborghini, you know he'll also take care of you for the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteThat's a comforting thought! ;0)
DeleteOh dear, thankfully our nephew didn't have such rich tastes, he always wanted a 'Herbie' car.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter wants one of those VW bugs. A light blue one.
DeleteBoys and their toys. HAHA! I like what Peaches said about getting him a Lamborghini from Toys R Us. Even a radio operated one. That'll make a nice Christmas gift. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to pay a visit to Toys R Us and see what they have. It would be entertaining to see his reaction!
DeleteI was never that tuned in to cars at the age of ten. Honestly, I'm not that tuned in now. I always start paying more attention when I know I will have to trade one in, but the rest of the time... Not so much. Sounds like your son will be a car guru.
ReplyDeleteI never really cared about cars, either. I just wanted one that drove and didn't have problems.
DeleteWell at least he's got impeccable taste! You've raised him well! lol!
ReplyDeleteI think he gets it from his grandfather!
DeleteGood thing you're teaching him about the value and rewards of hard work early on!
ReplyDeleteI hope it sinks in!
DeleteGreat post. I love reading the wisdom behind what you all share.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Wisdom? I'm just flying by the seat of my pants sometimes! ;0)
Deletehaha that's cute-- he's got the right idea-- why dream if you don't dream big!
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteKids don't get it. It's interesting to see how their spending changes once they have to spend their own money!
ReplyDeleteVery true! They just don't realize how quickly the money goes!
DeleteI wouldn't mind a Lamborghini either, although I don't have the funds for one. At least he has good taste. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree with you!
