The Snow Dance

It's gotten a little cold down here in Georgia.  The thermometer says it's a balmy 27 degrees Fahrenheit - perfect weather for snow.

The kids around here are very excited about the prospect of having big fluffy flakes falling from the sky.  So excited, in fact, that they had to do a little dance.

I had gone to the bus stop to pick up my son after school, and found a very interesting sight.  Seven kids were in the middle of the street, jumping up and down,  waving their hands, and shouting who-only-knows what.

"Okay, kids," I said.  "First of all, you need to get out of the street.  I don't want any of you ending up as pancakes!  Second, what in the world are you doing?"

"The snow dance!" one kid said.

"The snow dance?"

"Yeah!  It's going to make it snow.  Guaranteed!"

I nodded.  "Okay.  We'll see how that works."

So here we are, almost 24 hours later, and still no snow.  I think they'd better work on their technique.  (Or maybe just try flushing ice cubes down the toilet, like we did in Ohio.  It worked every time!)

    1. I hear they got a lot of snow in Ohio. Maybe the effects of the dance were felt in Ohio, because that's where we're originally from.

  2. Flushing ice down the commode - that's new! We're cold here, but not enough for snow.

    1. It's kind of weird seeing all the pictures from my friends on Facebook of the snow in Ohio, and having nothing here.

  6. I can't make it snow, but I can sure make it rain! Every time I wash my windows it starts raining! I've once used it to make rain during a draught season.... seriously!

    1. I hear you. A Melt-the-Snow dance would be a good thing for Northerners!

  8. 27 degrees, for us, would be a heat wave. Our temps been hanging around the zero mark.

  10. Here in Knoxville, it's a nippy but clear day. I also had roots in NE Ohio, so I've had my share o' snow already - but keep dancin' if it makes you happy, little person!

  11. If they do the snow dance outside your house, maybe you could orchestrate the appearance of some artificial snow.

  12. The snow dance...I remember doing something like that when I was little, living in Florida, and hoping for snow. ;)

  13. Ah, the miracle of childhood... snow is still magic. Alas, a snow dance is not.

  18. It was -10 a few days ago. I'd give my left arm for 27. :(

Their snow dance worked, alright, and we got all of it!

  19. I don't blame them for wanting snow days, but there are days off coming real soon. :)

    1. I suspect we'll get a snow day or two before the winter is over.

  20. We had sleet and snow this morning and they didn't even call off school. I was shocked. Of course, it was all gone about 30 minutes later, but we briefly had a blanket of snow on the roads. This is the first time I've heard of snow buses going in snow in years...so I'm not sure what made them do that!
