The Snow Walk

It's a balmy 13 degrees Fahrenheit in Georgia, where I live. I don't think temperatures get that low very often, here in the south. Yesterday, we even had some snow flurries.  When my son got off the bus, the flurries were swirling around.   Of course to kids, this is the greatest thing ever.  "Snow!" they shouted.

I just wanted to get home. "Come on, Bubba, let's go.  It's cold out here!"

But Bubba didn't want to rush.  In  fact, he wanted to go as slow as possible.  I had walked ahead, trying to get him to move a little. When I turned around, Bubba was walking as slow as a snail.

"Dude," I said. "Pick it up a little!"

He shook his head. "No, Mama.  You can't rush this. I'm enjoying my beautiful snow walk!"

(But poor Mama was a frozen Momsicle by the time she got home!)

  2. It isn't that cold on this end of the state, but I can attest that our house isn't nearly as tight as the house we lived in Michigan was and if this house was in Michigan, we'd froze! Enjoy your snow, today is a beautiful blue sky day here.

    1. I think the cold is coming your way. I agree - the houses down here are not built as well as northern houses.

  5. We're pretty frozen here in Michigan. I'd like to go on a snow walk like Bubba, but only if the snow is light and fluffy no, cold cold temperatures.

  6. Snow is pretty, but I'd rather be watching it from indoors and have it all melt the next day. It's definitely been a bit too cold lately. When I went to work this morning, our temperature in VA was -1.

  9. You have to play reverse psychology and tell him how much you want to enjoy the weather and hope he'll say, "Let's get home soon."

I'm posting reviews of your books on my blog and then I'll transfer them to Amazon. Finally.

    1. I'm looking forward to Spring. Fortunately, in Georgia, winter doesn't last long.

    1. I miss the snow. When I lived in Cleveland, we always had a ton. Georgia is pathetic for snow fall!

  13. When I lived in Georgia... back in the early '80's... we had a lovely cold spell with about 3 inches of snow. It was horrible.

    1. That's right. It's good to slow down and enjoy things. Just not when it's freezing!

  16. If that happens again, shout, "Race you to the house" and take off running. Maybe he'll get moving.

  17. Having grown up in Georgia and having only seen snow once when Ilived there, I understand. We're having mild weather here on the west coast of Canada, likely due to our warm water currents. . .

  18. Aww! He's learning to just appreciate and enjoy nature. Of course, grown-ups know you can enjoy it from inside your house through a window!

  19. But it was worth it to see Bubba appreciate the beauty in the world God created. Treasure this!
