Why People Sing in the Shower and a Giveaway

"Mama," my ten-year-old son said. "Do you know why people sing in the shower?"

I looked at the kid, wondering where in the world that thought came from. "Well Bubba, I think it's because people like the acoustics, and it makes them feel relaxed and happy."

"I don't think so," Bubba said. "The real reason is that it helps people think."

I raised my eyebrows. "How so?"

"The amplified vibrations go in the ear and stimulate the brain. Singing in the shower makes the brain work better."

"Oh," I said. "So you're saying if you sing in the shower, you'll get smarter?"

He nodded.

So ladies and gentlemen, we're going to conduct a little experiment. I want you all to sing in the shower for 30 days, and then come back and report if you feel smarter. Let's see if Bubba is right.

    Sounds like good sound logic to me. In fact, just yesterday I belted out a song or two in the shower and doncha' know, I was able to write so much better after that.

    I think singing anytime anywhere just makes a person happier. But I like the idea of smarter. I vote "yes."

    Not sure that I'll be singing in the shower. I don't want water or soap in my mouth! I like to sing hymns sometimes when I do the dishes. It would be really cool to win a book!

    My older son always sings in the shower. He is definitely a happy guy.
    I don't sing in the shower,, but I will now.

    Bubba has a lot in that brain.

    My problem is that by the time I step out of the shower, I forget abou the song and my mind goes to the next item on my list - dry myself, lotion, clothing... and the next shower, I sing again. - whtever.mind

    I always sing in the shower. And think in the shower. I don't know if it makes me smarter, but I've had some pretty great post and book ideas come out of it.

    Hello greetings and good wishes.

    I am amazed at the wisdom of Bubba. He is brilliant.

    This reminded me of the saying ------DON'T RESPECT GREY HAIRS, RESPECT YOUNG THINKING.

    Only yesterday, I read in a blog that young boy gave advice to an experienced boat man about anchoring his boat. But the boatman ignored the advice and as a result his boat almost sank.

    It is the young people who will carry the world forward. See the amazing changes that have taken place in our own lives since the time we were born. The world is surely in good hands.

    I hope and pray that your little son will grow in all wisdom and become very successful in all respects.

    Well, that's you corrected. I don't doubt for one moment your son is right but would like to thank him anyway for giving me a wonderful excuse to sing whilst in the shower.

    My son used to save awkward conversations for the shower. He'd turn on the water, get in, close the curtain, holler for me to come in, then ask about...delicate matters that were on his mind. ;)

    I also get a lot of story ideas while I'm in the shower. (But not singing. )

    I think he's onto a good theory. Singing can calm you down, and maybe that makes a person able to think easier.
