You may have heard that Atlanta, Georgia got blasted by ice and snow. That didn't stop my boy from wanting to go out in search of a good burger.
"Mama, can we go to Five Guys?" he asked. (That's his favorite burger joint.)
"Bubba, there's some nasty weather heading our way. It's not a good idea to go out right now."
"But Mama, I need a hamburger!"
I shook my head. "Ask your dad."
He did. And my husband, being the crazy person he is, decided it would be a wonderful idea to go to Five Guys.
The boys headed out as the snow clouds gathered.
Two hours later, they returned.
"That was a wild goose chase," my son announced.
"Is that right?" I asked. "What happened?"
"Five Guys was closed!"
I laughed. "No way. You're kidding! How could they do that? Didn't they know you needed a hamburger?"
Bubba scowled. "Even McDonald's was closed!"
I shook my head. This was serious. "So you didn't get a hamburger?"
"Yeah. We got one. But we had to drive a million miles- all the way to Chili's!"
It wasn't the miles so much as the time, I'm sure. Surprised anything was open!
ReplyDeleteThis was before the storm actually hit. I would've thought things would've been open. News of snow in the south sure shuts things down in a hurry!
DeleteWhy didn't they fry a burger themselves? I'm sure both mom and Schultz would've approved :)

I was really surprised, too. It's kind of like the mail not being delivered. (What ever happened to the mantra about the mail getting through no matter what the weather?)

They have some pretty good burgers there.

DeleteWhere I live things don't close down for snow, since we live in a snowbelt and usually have the trucks out all over the roads. But we heard that NC (relatives there), got a whole four inches of snow and closed everything down. Very different from where we live, where for four inches, no one blinks.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Ohio, so this is a bit of a shock to me to see how crippled a city can become with just a little snow!
DeleteI've driven in heavy rain for food cravings, but I can't imagine doing that in the snow. With all the places closed, there's bound to be at least one with burgers available.

DeleteWhen the restaurants are closed from the storm, I think it's time to make hamburgers at home, though I think hot chocolate sounds better in that weather.

DeleteThe south is simply unable to handle snow, sleet, and/or ice. I am not at all surprised that most everything closed. It's kinda like how small towns in Texas all close for the high school football games. Okay, not really. But close.
