We have a lot of pollen in the state of Georgia where I live. It coats everything with a fine yellow powder - including our cars.
This morning, my car was coated with such a dusting, along with a fresh topping of dew. My nine-year old son took one look at this and decided it would make perfect writing material. He took his index finger and began writing all over my car: "Hi y'all!", "Have a nice day, y'all!" And of course there were plenty of smiley faces to go along with the friendly greetings.
So, ladies and gentlemen, if you happen to be driving around in Georgia, and you notice a particularly friendly-looking car, it's mine. Just wave and have a nice day - y'all.
Will he be washing the car this weekend?
ReplyDeleteOur pollen finally ended last week. Stuff gets into everything...
Yes. The car has been washed!
DeleteThere's something really satisfying about writing in the dust on a car!!
ReplyDeleteIt's better than mud!
DeleteThe happy car, that is a lot of pollen
ReplyDeleteIt was ridiculous. It seemed like only a few hours after washing it, it was covered again.
DeleteAt least you'll know why people are smiling at you in traffic.
ReplyDeleteYes. It's not me - it's my car. ;0)
DeleteThat son of yours is fitting in nicely with his new home. And it beats the snarky signs we see on cars. . . I would smile if I saw that car, and likely would know a kid's fingers made that message.
ReplyDeleteI smile when I see kid messages doodled on cars, too.
Deletesuch true springy deligh! Hope the car didn't sneeze
ReplyDeleteWe gave it a good dose of Claritin (allergy medicine). ;0)
DeleteIf I lived there, I'd be honored to wish you a happy day as well. So cute. Maybe when people are stuck in traffic, it will make them smile.
ReplyDeleteI hope so. Something needs to make this Georgia traffic a little more bearable!
DeleteThis is funny and cute and makes me smile, even though I suffer terribly from allergies myself! Following back from ayellowroseoftexas.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow. Allergies are the worst!
DeleteNice to meet a fellow Georgian who understands about our pollen. Cute that your son made it into a happy car.
ReplyDeleteThoughts in Progress
The pollen down here is a little ridiculous! Maybe you'll see me riding around in my friendly car. ;0)
DeleteThat's so sweet and what a great way to raise a smile. Hope you all had a lovely day. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe did. I hope you did, too!
DeleteAhhhh yes, the spring pollen. I'm in Nashville and it's pretty bad here. I have a blue car, so it doesn't show as much as on a white car. It just mostly looks like dirt!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a lot of pollen in Cincinnati, too. I'm glad I don't have a white car!
DeleteDoes pollen come first? Or spring? Because so far, we haven't had either. In fact, we still have the darn heat on today. Burrr.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. Cheers and boogie boogie.
Hmm. Good question. It's like the chicken-egg question. I think pollen comes first.
DeletePollen like snow on cars is meant for writing with! :) Have a terrific weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to think of it. And it's better because it's not as cold!
DeleteAt least you'll always be smiling
ReplyDeleteHa! At least my car will. ;)
DeleteI'm sure that car will be making lots of people smile when they see it today :)
ReplyDeleteAnything to brighten up time in traffic!
DeleteSherry, I lived in Augusta for ten years and --- oh, the pollen. The first year I was there I made the mistake of leaving ALL of my windows open in the spring. It was so nice outside. I didn't need the air or the heat. I left the house and ran errands all day. I came home and EVERY SURFACE in my house was coated with that awful yellow dust. I could have cried. Instead, I spent the next few years dusting and vacuuming. Turns out there is NEVER a time you can leave your windows open in GA. Bah. Now, I live in FL and there are probably six days in the year that you can do it here;)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. We keep our windows closed. It's too bad the dog brings it in after he's been outside. What a mess! (It was actually so bad, our wood deck looked yellow!)
DeleteLOL, too cute! Better to have a friendly car than an angry one, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteNow, I was hoping for a photo! (...though the best ones are the ones in our own minds...)
ReplyDeleteHa. No, I didn't get that one on camera.
