This afternoon, my son and I ventured out to do some last-minute Thanksgiving shopping. As expected, the grocery store was packed. There was hardly a spot in the parking lot to park my car. Eventually I found one. In Timbuktu. I parked, and we trekked into the store.
Because of the long lines, it took quite a while to get our groceries and check out. Usually when that happens, I pretty much end up forgetting where I parked my car. Today was no exception. When we went back to the parking lot, we headed in the direction I thought I had left it.
"I don't see the car," I said, after walking down a very long row.
"Look for the happy car," my son said.
"The happy car?"
"Yes. Your car is the only one that smiles on the front."
Okay. I followed his advice and looked at the grills of the cars. Sure enough, I spotted a happy smiley face on one of the cars. And guess what? It was mine!
"See, Mama," Bubba said. "You have the happy car!"
And before I go, I'd like to wish all of you who celebrate, a very Happy Thanksgiving!
haha a happy car helps when searching indeed. Hope you have a happy thanksgiving to.
ReplyDeleteThe grin on the front made it easy to spot!
DeleteLovely to have a "Happy Car" just goes to show what it's owner's are like.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanks giving Day, enjoy yourselves.
Haha! Yes, we are a happy crew!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Richard! I hope you had a good one, too!
DeleteI love this! How cute that your son noticed!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you too!
Jess
I thought it was cute, too!
DeleteHope you had a great Thanksgiving!
That boy is too funny. At first I read timbuktu not as tim buck two but, tim boo kaaa. I'm thinking, where's tim boo kaa, and what kind of drinks do they serve.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Sounds like a place with great drinks. When you figure out where it is, let me know, and I'll join you!
DeleteThat's a date. I'll bring cookies.
DeleteWhat make is your car that it smiles in the parking lot? My sports car only smiles when it's going very fast.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thanksgiving!
It's a Honda Accord.
DeleteA happy car sounds very cute! All of our cars should be happy because my husband takes good care of them, especially the little English sportscar named Margaret. She shares the garage with our Subaru.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that your husband takes good care of your cars. Which reminds me - it's time for an oil change!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving. Smiles to you and your car (-:
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, too!
DeleteYay for the happy car. I understand that you couldn't park wherever you wanted today, but when I go to a store I try to park in the same area each time. If I don't do that, my car moves while I'm inside. Then I have to search for it. I can find it at home because it knows better than to leave the garage. I have a stuffed M&M hanging from my rear view mirror. It helps me know which car is mine, in addition to the scars from all the times people have hit my car and driven away. Why is it called hit and run? They don't run. They drive.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I'm so sorry your car has been the victim of hit and drive drivers. People can be so dishonest!
DeleteI usually park in the same general area, too. Because when I don't, I get confused.
What a great way to find your car! I was idiotic enough to go to the store today too. It was crazy! I felt bad about dragging my little guy in there with me, being shoved and having to deal with the not so friendly people. We got ice cream afterward as a reward for surviving! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. :)
ReplyDeleteYep. Totally crazy out there! I'm sure your little guy appreciated the ice cream, though! Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving, too!
DeleteAw, that is a sweet story. I have a smirky van; I can find it by the top, not the front. It looks like the love child of a Flex and a van (the Nissan Quest). That square back is distinctive.
ReplyDeleteCool! It sounds like your van has a lot of personality!
DeleteThat's brilliant. My mom used to look for the duct tape holding something down on her car. I am fully aware of how bad that is.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Well, at least she knew which car was hers!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hope you had a great day, too!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving and keep bringing us those touching stories of your son. He's quite the boy!
ReplyDeleteYes, he is! Never a dull moment with that one!
DeleteMaybe it saw another car that struck its fancy
ReplyDeleteAww. Yes. Auto love!
DeleteVery cool- I love the things only kids notice. :) Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteI usually notice the smiley faces on the back of cars. I never realized the front had smiles, too. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving as well!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have something identifiable like yet. I look for my fuzzy dice when I can't find my car in the lot.
Fuzzy dice certainly help!
DeleteHope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
Your son is always cute and I like him so much. Happy thanks giving.
ReplyDeleteMy son is quite the character. I hope your new little guy gives you lots of laughs, too!
DeleteHappy thanksgiving to you and your family. I'm trying to visualize what your happy car looks like.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Arni. It's a dark blue Honda accord, and the headlights look like eyes, and the grill curves up, like a smile.
DeleteI've forgotten where I've parked the car many times. Not fun trying to find the car when the weather has turned bad. I hope you and your family had a nice Thanksgiving. : )
ReplyDeleteYes! I really dislike finding my car in a thunderstorm or blizzard! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, too!
DeleteAww. That's a good story!
ReplyDeleteI believe that there's an app for car locating. Though it might just be something with OnStar. My friend has it, which is how I heard about it.
Yes. OnStar does help locate cars. I just use my panic button if I'm totally lost, and my car usually beeps. Unless I'm way far away!
DeleteThe kid is right. I have a frowny truck.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Is it old and rusted? ;0)
DeleteShot in the dark, here... you drive a Mazda, don't you?
ReplyDeleteThe Mazda Smiley Grill
No. Honda Accord. I'll have to pay attention to Mazdas, now that you mention it.
