I think I caught somebody's Facebook sick status, because I have one awful cold that I can't seem to shake. It's made me completely lose my voice, which isn't good, because it makes it hard to bark orders at everyone. (That's my mom job!)
Yesterday, I was trying to tell my son something, and of course he couldn't understand a word I was saying.
"Mama," he said. "My world is all messed up now!"
"What do you mean?" I whispered hoarsely.
"I can't identify your voice. And I miss it. It's one of my favorite voices."
I nodded.
He continued. "How am I supposed to know if you're my Mama, or if you're some alien who just invaded our house?"
Right. I'm obviously some alien. I sure hope the real Mama returns soon!
Oh, Sherry - did you breath in my post? 'Cause if you did, I'm the guilty party. Hope you feel better soon. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're the guilty party. ;0) But I hope I feel better, soon, too. This isn't much fun!
DeleteHope you feel well quick and you can prove you aren't an alien
ReplyDeleteHaha! I don't think there's any way I can prove I'm not an alien. I'm just too weird! ;0)
DeleteTell him you're an alien and see what he does!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon.
I'm sure he'd believe me, if I told him that. And thanks - I'll be happy when I'm feeling better, too!
DeleteGet some fun glowing contact lenses and be the alien lol hopefully the germs scat soon
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea. When I get better, I'll go off in search of neon orange contact lenses. ;0)
DeleteI remember that feeling when I was very young. It's hard for a child to accept a parent's illness. It means they aren't immortal and that's scary. I hope you feel better soon, and Bubba's world isn't messed up anymore, and the only aliens are on TV! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen we're young, we think our parents are invincible. Unfortunately, they're not.
Deleteone of his fave? So he has more fave ones? Shame on him!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I think his dad is a fav, so it's okay.
DeleteBark orders? I don't see that but I love your son's logic! I hope you get well and gain your voice back soon.
ReplyDeleteBarking is what Schultz does, but believe me, I give plenty of orders. ;0) I hope I get my voice back, too. Now I'm starting to miss it!
Deletehurry and get well soon, Sherry. are you getting enough vitamin C?
ReplyDeleteYes. And zinc. I'm eating a lot of oranges and drinking a ton of water, too. This thing is just nasty, though!
DeleteHow cute. Lemon lonzenges. Want you well and ready to AtoZ this year.
ReplyDeleteIt should be gone by April! ;0)
DeleteIt started off so sweet!
ReplyDeleteYou should try gargling warm salt water and drinking room tempature Dr Pepper (the syrup in it will coat your throat). Also, cold compresses on your face and super hot baths so you're around a lot of steam.
Everyone at my store calls me a doctor and says I should go into medical school because I'm always fixing them without lots of medicine. haha
I've never heard of room temperature Dr. Pepper doing good. That's interesting. We don't have Dr. Pepper in the house, and I'm not going out to get some. So I'll do the hot bath thing, and keep drugging myself with NyQuil so I can sleep at night.
DeleteYou should be a doctor. You'd be good at it.
Hopefully you can keep blogging for the real Mama until she comes back :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm doing a pretty good job with this blogging thing. Maybe I can just stay, and the real Mama can get other things done. ;0)
DeleteHe's got a point though, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon!
Thanks. Hopefully this nasty virus doesn't get to Germany!
DeleteHe must be waiting for real mama then.
ReplyDeleteHe's been waiting very patiently. The real Mama has been missing for about a week.
DeleteHope you feel better soon! I'm on my second cold this month -- after not getting sick for a couple years. Had to teach my classes without a voice, typing their instructions on the big screen. That was fun.
ReplyDeleteThis has been ridiculous. I don't usually get sick, either. But this thing has really gotten a hold of me! Hope you feel better, too!
DeleteWhat an awesome response. The kid has a great mind. Hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteHe's a funny guy. I hope this virus goes away, too!
DeleteOh no. I hope you get well soon.
ReplyDeleteI KNEW I should have cleaned the screen when I sneezed all over it.
ReplyDeleteMy bad.
What the heck, Al? You've contaminated half the blogosphere with your disgusting screen! Hahaha!
DeleteI KNEW I should have cleaned the screen when I sneezed all over it.
ReplyDeleteMy bad.
There's a book series about that--a kid finds out everyone around him has been replaced by aliens. But how SWEET is it that your voice is one of his favorites?!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought that was sweet, too. Good to know he likes my voice - when I don't sound like an alien!
DeleteI hate it when I lose my voice. Feel better.
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard to communicate without a voice! I hope it comes back soon!
DeleteThat son of your is too adorable. Hope you're feeling better today, Sherry. :-)
ReplyDeleteHe's a sweet kid. I wish I could say I was better, but not yet. This thing is lasting a long time!
DeleteAdmitting you're an alien with sarcasm? That sounds exactly like something an alien would do. You're not fooling us.
ReplyDelete(Get well soon!)
Haha! You're on to me! Yes, of course I'm an alien! ;0)
DeleteI cannot afford to lose my voice... that would be disastrous... how would I perform at my gigs?
ReplyDeleteBubba's comments are too cute.
Hope you're better Sherry!
At least I'm not a voice teacher. That would be disastrous!
DeleteAh, such an incredibly cute thing to say. Here's hoping your voice and therefore normality is resumed soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for the same!
DeleteYou could use the alien thing to your advantage and scare him into behaving LOL.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon, Sherry :)
I don't think he'd be afraid of an alien. Especially one that looks like his Mama. ;0)
DeleteI do believe you have a developing writer in your family. I see plots every time you share Bubba's conversations. Sorry about the lost voice. I think that bug has spread across the nation. I had it last month.
ReplyDeleteHe has a great imagination. He'd be a good writer if he ever disciplined himself to sit down and write something. Glad you're over the bug. It's a long lasting one!
DeleteHe has quite the imagination. It's awesome! Hope you feel better soon. People in my family enjoy it when I can't speak.
ReplyDeleteHa! I wish people enjoyed it when I couldn't speak. Oddly enough, they keep trying to have lengthy conversations with me, even though I can't respond or comment very well.
DeleteTry some hot tea with lemon and honey. That should help. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteYou nearly made me fall off my chair: it makes it hard to bark orders at everyone. And if you're an alien, what would you call me? (Don't answer that....)
