Dog vs Truck

It's summer vacation, and the, "Mom, I'm bored," comment has already surfaced.

When Bubba said it, I said, "Find something to do!"

He did. It involved a remote-control truck and a very large German Shepherd.

I walked into the kitchen and nearly tripped over a miniature monster truck with huge rubber wheels. It was in pursuit of a four-legged canine named Schultz. Schultz was clearly not happy about having his afternoon nap disturbed. He went to all of his favorite spots, but was chased of by the truck.

Bubba thought that was great fun. Until Schultz decided to do something about it. When that motorized vehicle approached the furry beast and bumped into his nose, Schultz took action. He jumped up, grabbed that thing in his enormous mouth, and ran off.

Fortunately, Schultz was very gentle, so the truck wasn't damaged,  but that was the end of Bubba's little game!

Before I go, I would like to thank Diana Jenkins for featuring my new book, Ten Zany Birds, on her blog. It was a wonderful, unexpected surprise!

(I also want to say, that I'm sorry I've been sporadic about posting. Between vacations, the kids being home, and all the stuff I'm trying to do, it's been really rough for me to be online to blog. Hopefully things will settle down in a while, and I'll be more regular.)

  1. No worries! We understand.
Bubba might not want to pick on Schultz anymore. Of course, next he'll be chasing you with the truck.

  3. Good dog.

Have you ever thought about going on Pinterest and seeing if there are any kid friendly projects there? Maybe something that Bubba might like. Better than some of the stupid tricks they get up to on YouTube.

    1. That might be a good idea. Pretty much the only thing he likes is video games, and I restrict the times on those.

    1. Schultz is a very patient dog, but even he gets a little perturbed when his beauty rest is disturbed.

  6. We all need breaks Sherry, life gets busy... Poor Schultz... I feel for him... When my youngest gets bored she holds and carries the cat... no wonder the cat runs off to quiet areas often... I hope vacation time settles down for you xox

  7. LOL, way to go, Schultz! No one should have to be tormented by a truck like that... XD

Also, congrats on your new book being featured! That's awesome. :)

  9. Dog I Bubba 0. lol! Bubba will find another form of entertainment soon, I'm sure. Can't wait to hear what he comes up with.

I'm in the same boat with my sporadic posting, too. My Urchins are 7 & 10 and play almost exactly like Shultz and Bubba. Sigh. It'll be a long summer for both of us! :)

    1. While it's nice to sleep in, the free time goes out the window. The kids always want to go to the pool.

  11. There's video floating around of cows chasing a remote control truck, Sherrie. It's hilarious.

  12. We had a dog when I was growing up who would do things like that. She would just take away whatever I was bothering her with, but she never damaged it. Unfortunately, she couldn't take away my walker, which I used to chase her around the house before I could walk on my own.

    1. I guess it would be a little tough to take away the walker. Dogs put up with a lot!

  14. Bubba, do not chase Schultz with your vehicle. It might upset him quite seriously.

    Love,
    Janie

  16. Summertime is crazy for blogging. We all have such crazy schedules. As to the boredom, have you seen that sign for bored kids? Someone on Facebook had it hanging on her wall in her house. It reads like a checklist:

    Bored?

    Have you?

    Been creative?

    Outside play?

    Read a book?

    Exercised for 10 minutes?

    Done something helpful?

    1. Yeah. I suggest all those things. It's hard to get them interested in anything besides swimming and video games.

  18. Hehehe! Clearly the truck wanted to play. Schultz was only giving it what it wanted! Have fun this summer. I'm into week 3 of summer break. Still surviving!

    1. Glad to hear you're surviving! My daughter has been easy. She's busy with her friends. My son, however, needs more to do.

  19. Don't apologize, enjoy the summer. As for Bubba, I hope he knows that the second time, Schultz might not be so gentle!
