My teenage daughter is taller than me, now. And she's very proud of this fact. Every day she likes to stand next to me and look down at me.
"Mom, you're short!" she said. "You look like a toddler!"
"What do you mean, 'I look like a toddler'?" I retorted. "You're only a half inch taller than me!"
"You're tiny," she answered. "Have you ever seen what you look like next to Dad?"
"Yes. I'm shorter than your dad, but I don't look like a toddler!"
"Do too!" she said.
"Do not!" I replied.
"Do too!"
"Do not!"
My daughter grinned at me. "And you're acting like one, too!"
(But she started it!)
Funny! Nothing wrong with short. My wife is short and it's cute.
ReplyDeleteSmall but mighty! (And I'm not that short- 5 ft. 4 1/2. Is that short?) ;0)
DeleteNo. I think 5'5" is average for a woman. That's how tall I am.
Deletelololo, but she started it.

DeleteSherry, that was funny! I'm short and my son likes to remind me of it. I'm okay with that as long as he doesn't tell me I'm old.
ReplyDeleteI'd get upset if anybody told me I was old! ;0)
DeleteI always wanted to be taller than my mom, but at 28 I had to give up on that dream. I am short and I am going to stay short, especially shorter than my mom.
ReplyDeleteI'm shorter than my mom, too. She's got me by a half an inch - just like my daughter.
Deletelol she got you there, but yeah, she did start it
ReplyDeleteI"m glad you agree!
DeleteGet some bigger shoes
ReplyDeleteI'm still taller than her in my heels!
DeleteI was wearing my mom's jeans when I was about 10. I wore her wedding dress as part of my costume that year too. My dad is 6'4" and she's 5'3". I'm like 5'5 1/2" now because I stopped growing right after that haha. I'm right at that height where I can't be called short but I still can't reach things on high shelves. I go around at work yelling "I NEED A TALL PERSON" and they all think I'm just lazy. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteHaha! You're a good height. I'm only 5'4 1/2. I'm always asking for Tall Persons!
Delete*LOL* I can't even imagine the day when my son will be taller than me, and he will be.
ReplyDeleteIt's a weird thing when your kid's eyeballs are higher than your own - and you're standing up!
DeleteNow, now. Being a bit shorter than your daughter doesn't make you a toddler. You are diminutive. Or you can be petite. I always wanted Favorite Young Man to grow one more inch so he would be exactly one foot taller than I am. He didn't oblige me, but I'll probably shrink as I get older. The Hurricane delights in the fact that she's two inches taller than I am and has muscles like rocks. I am their wimpy little mom, but they still turn to me when they need something.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Wimpy little moms can be the strength of the family. And I'm sure you are!
DeleteThank you. That's so kind.
DeleteShe got you there - you fell right into her trap :)
ReplyDeleteI'm always falling into my kids' traps! ;0)
DeleteThis is too funny! I like how she brought you right into her trap. :) Thanks for sharing!

Glad you got a laugh out of it!
DeleteThat was cute and she did get you (even though she started it) by calling you on it before you did her.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is a clever one!
DeleteNo. It's the dad's fault! ;0)
ReplyDeleteGood things come in small packages is what I always told my daughter who is only 4ft 11 inches.
