I came home last night from teaching, and saw something very strange. My daughter was holding a jar of peanut butter in one hand, and a spoon loaded with the nutty stuff in the other. The spoon was being licked by none other than our hundred pound German Shepherd, Schultz.
"What's going on here?" I asked. I couldn't believe he was being fed peanut butter right out of the jar.
"Schultz got hurt, and I'm trying to make him feel better," my daughter said.
"Exactly what happened?" I asked. I had a feeling this was going to be good.
"Bubba (my son) was stomping around the house, not paying attention. Schultz was lying down in the stair landing in the dark, having a nap, and Bubba stomped on him. Poor Schultzy yiped really loud!"
I could just imagine.
My daughter continued. "So we gave Schultzy lots of ice cubes and peanut butter, so he knows we still love him."
I'm happy to report that Schultz has suffered no lasting effects from his meeting with Bubba's foot. Let's hope it doesn't happen, again, because I don't want to have to keep buying new jars of peanut butter!
Oh, but dogs love peanut butter! And nothing funnier than watching them eat it. Sorry he got stepped on.
ReplyDeleteWhen he was a puppy, we used to put peanut butter in his cong. He loved getting it out!
DeleteNice! At least she didn't use Nutella.
ReplyDeleteHe probably would've died if she had done that!
DeleteNow I want to hurt my foot on purpose just so I can get a jar of peanut butter fed to me.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I hope Schultz doesn't deliberately get underfoot now!
DeletePoor doggy! I'm glad he wasn't really hurt, although I wouldn't want a dog eating my peanut butter either. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteObviously that jar got tossed!
DeletePeanut butter is a good comfort food. You'll have to keep an extra jar on hand just for such emergencies. :)
ReplyDeleteYes. I plan to buy a couple more in case something like that happens, again.
Deleteisn't peanut butter dangerous for dogs like chocolate is too?
ReplyDeleteNo. It's anything with high contents of sugar or cocoa, basically. They also can't have grapes or other similar fruits. We've always used peanut butter or cheese to give our dogs medication.
DeleteRachel is correct. Dogs love peanut butter and it's good for them.
DeleteI hope it doesn't do what it does to me-lots of tummy issues -but I am sure it made him feel very loved. :)
ReplyDeleteSchultz loves peanut butter!
DeleteDoh! Oh my. Kids. I'm not thinking that's the greatest reward, but I guess what doesn't kill him...
ReplyDeleteWe've used peanut butter to help Schultz take pills. He loves the stuff.
DeletePoor puppy! I hope it doesn't happen again, because Schultz doesn't need any injuries, you don't need to keep buying peanut butter, and he doesn't need to learn to be pitiful to get peanutbutter.
ReplyDeleteMy mom's dog got attacked and had a nail almost ripped off. So my mom bandaged her up and got her taken care of medically. Well the dog just limped around and cried and begged for food, because they had gotten her to stay still for the bandaging process by bribing her with treats. Such a drama queen.
I'll say she was a drama queen! You have to watch what you reward. Dogs are pretty smart.
DeleteThat is cool :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a silly sight to see!
DeletePleased your dog is ok, never heard of one eating peanut butter though. Great post.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Lots of dogs love peanut butter.
DeleteAwww.. sweet!
ReplyDeleteSchultz loved all the attention.
DeletePoor guy deserved it after his stomping
ReplyDeleteI'm sure being stomped on by a 90 pound kid wasn't fun at all!
DeleteGlad Schultz is okay and got to eat peanut butter by the ton
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how that peanut butter is going to be coming out the other end!
DeleteI'm glad the poor pup is okay. Peanut butter is a good comfort food. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it is!
DeleteI think giving p.b. to Schultz was a good way to help him feel better. He should probably get his own jar every day.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Then he'd be fat. No daily jars of peanut butter for the puppy!
DeleteMaybe just a very small jar?
DeleteNice he wasn't hurt. They are good friends indeed to share peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Schultz appreciated it.
DeleteGlad he wasn't hurt and I hope he feels pampered. My dog hates peanut butter, but I know most dogs love it.
ReplyDeleteSchultz felt quite good after all the ice cubes and peanut butter!
DeleteAw, poor Schultz! Peanut butter is always yummy, so no wonder your daughter thought that would help cheer him up, haha.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it would help keep his mouth shut so he wouldn't bark at the deer, too!
DeleteCool post ! Dogs love peanut butter, lucky...he had an awesome time and a yummy treat :)
ReplyDeleteSchultz really likes peanut butter. It's one of his favorite treats.
DeletePoor Schultz. Glad there are no long lasting affects of being stomped on. Peanut butter and ice can make things all better for a dog. : )
