Circle of Life

Before I get into my story, I will answer the IWSG question of the month, which is, in this ever-changing world, what services should IWSG offer?  Hmmm. Well, first of all, I think it's so awesome that IWSG offers shoutouts for member accomplishments and new releases. That's awesome! I don't know. Maybe point out resources for authors. Places to look when seeking publication. Marketing suggestions. Online classes to help develop the craft of writing. I'd be interested in hearing some of your ideas.

So, here's my big news:  Bubba is married! I can't even believe it. Wasn't he just chasing butterflies a couple of years ago? How does this happen?  I'm super happy for him. And his wife is a terrific young lady. Couldn't ask for a better daughter-in-law!

And speaking of making me feel old (was I speaking of that?), I attended my high school class reunion. So weird to learn of my classmates who passed away. But it was great seeing some of my old friends!

Sometimes it seems like time is going slowly. But when you look back, you realize it sure goes fast!

  1. Congratulations to your son! That is awesome.
I attended my 40th class reunion many years ago. It was anti-climatic.

  2. Nothing like the milestones of your kids rearing their heads to make you feel old. I hope your reunion went well. And we're not old, really. Youth is wasted on the young.

  3. Congrats to Bubba! I wish them many happy years together. My niece just got married this past month too. It is the season for it!

  6. Congratulations to Bubba and his new wife. Didn't you just say he was in the Navy? I couldn't get to my 50th high school graduation, nor my 50th university graduation. At least half of my high school classmates have passed away, and there were only 11 of us to begin with. I have no idea what the sensation of time going slowly is like ~ lol! All the best to you, Sherri!

  7. Congratulations, Bubba. I miss hearing all his stories that you used to tell. Does your DIL know of. your blog? As for the feeling old category, I looked at your reunion photo and thought, gee, that's a decade after I graduated from college!

  10. Hi, Sherry!

I am late arriving here for two reasons, dear friend. To begin with, ever since moving back up north late last summer, I have drastically reduced by blog presence, limiting myself to only three days of "active duty" per month so that I can devote more time to the upkeep of our new house. Publishing only once a month as I now do is my justification for making the posts longer, as you noted in your comment on my Obliterated feature. If a comment from a great, longtime friend like you comes in after a current post has been running three days, my policy is to refrain from replying to it but nevertheless reciprocating by showing up at the friend's site and commenting on their latest post as I am doing now.

Secondly, I have been having problems with blog gremlins stealing friends' comments and hiding them in my spam folder. That's exactly what happened in your case. I just now found your comment mistakenly sorted by Blogger.com as junk. Thank you for visiting me at Shady's Place!

Wow, I can hardly believe this breaking news about Bubba. Like you, I still picture him as Beaver Cleaver, the cute and curious little kid always getting into mischief. Congratulations on his wedding, and may he and his bride have a lifetime of happiness together!

Yessum, attending a high school reunion can be jarring, especially when you learn for the first time about interim deaths among classmates and notice that some of your old friends have aged better than others. You have nothing to worry about in that department. You look fresh and lovely as a recent graduate, and you can be enormously proud of your accomplishments as an author and musician.

Enjoy the rest of your month, dear friend Sherry. I hope to connect with you again soon. Take care!
