As I mentioned in my last blog post, I lost my son, Greg Ellis in a motorcycle accident on February 2, 2025. I have decided to leave this blog as a tribute to him. You can read through many of the stories of his childhood where he is known as Bubba. Since I won't be posting here anymore, I wanted to let you know where we can still connect in the blog world. You can find me on my gardening blog: Gone Gardening
I will probably do the Insecure Writers Support Group posts there as well.
Thank you so much for your condolences and kind words. I appreciate you all very much!
Here's a video that celebrates his life. You can even see what he looked like in his "Bubba" years.
I have thought about you so much in the last weeks. This video is a lovely tribute to a much-loved son. I hope the day will soon dawn when the laughter will be more present than the tears. Janice.
ReplyDeleteI didn't lose my son, but he suffered an almost fatal motorcycle accident a few years ago. He will always live with impairment, and I will never get over the experience of those months of hospitalization. My thoughts have been with you since you posted about your loss.
ReplyDeleteWonderful video. Glad you will continue with us at your other blog. It is fitting that this one remains for Bubba.
ReplyDeleteSending you healing thoughts, dear, he made the world better for you and the family while he was here and I am sure he will continue doing so by watching after you from heavens.
ReplyDeleteI am still just heartbroken for you. The video is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute video. I still tear up for you. Heartfelt well wishes to you.
ReplyDeleteMy heart breaks for you. Perfect tribute to your son.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. What a lovely tribute.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are filled with tears after watching your tribute video, Sherry. What a beautiful boy Greg was, our Bubba, and what a fine and handsome young man he became. I am thankful for the opportunity to put a face to the name "Bubba," the perennially curious and inquisitive lad whose Leave It To Beaver style stories amused and entertained us over the years. So many priceless moments frozen in time, including two pictures of Greg with your lovable dog Schultz (gone five years next month). The first image shows Greg holding Schultz as a puppy, and the second relaxing with him as an adult. My wish for you and for all who were close to Greg is that fond memories of him, preserved in these photos as well as the indelible images in your minds, will continue to bring joy and light to your lives.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely and fitting gesture on your part to leave this blog behind as a tribute to your son whose tales of fun and mischief were so much a part of its content. It is truly the end of an era, dear Sherry - the end of a chapter and of a book - with other books yet to be written. Surely, you will continue to make Greg proud as you summon strength and courage and forge ahead. I will add your gardening site to my blog roster, Sherry, and look forward to continuing our longtime friendship there.
I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND THE WORDS to convey the immensity of this loss. I followed the Bubba stories and Bubba is forever here.
ReplyDeleteSending you hugs. May your memories of him console you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful video, though it was heartbreaking to watch. I am so very sorry for the pain and grief you're experiencing.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
