Mama in the Sky Zone

Yesterday, I took my son to an indoor trampoline place - Sky Zone.  Basically, the whole floor is a giant trampoline.  You stay in your square (or rectangle) and bounce around to your heart's content.  (There's trampoline basketball and dodge ball, too.) I figured it would be a good way to burn off some energy.

Of course, I couldn't let my son have all the fun.  I paid to bounce, too - for an entire hour.  I got in my square and started jumping.

Bubba, who was in the square next to mine, looked at me and laughed.  "Mama,  you have a silly smile on your face."

"Uh huh," I said.  "This is fun!"

Then a kid,who was probably in his twenties, next to me, did this mega show off move, where he jumped so high, he almost touched the ceiling.

Of course Mama wasn't going to be outdone by some twenty-year-old.  I took a massive power leap and launched myself upward.  Do you have any idea of what it is like to jump so high, that you're closer to the ceiling than you are to the floor?  And to have no sense of rhythm as to when your feet are going to come back down?  Let's just say it's a massive adrenaline rush.  Totally out of control scary!

My son stared at me when I came down.  "How did you do that, Mama? You were in the Sky Zone!"

(It was a cool place, but my old back is telling me today, that leaping to the Sky Zone probably wasn't a good idea.  The landing was a bit jarring!  Maybe I should act my age.  Nah . . .   It's more fun to pretend I'm still a kid!)

  3. Keep going till you can't. I'm jealous the nearest one to me is 4 hours away in Houston.

    1. That's my philosophy, too! I had never heard of Sky Zone until my son mentioned it. It's a really cool place!

  4. I've never done anything like that, but I had ravioli and apple juice for dinner the other night...and my boyfriend and I laid in bed watching the original Pokemon and singing along to the theme song last night. I will never be grown up.

    1. That sounds like fun! I don't think anybody should ever grow up! We should always be young at heart!

  5. That sounds like awesome fun!! That's something I'd like to do (not the high jumping part though--my joints and self are too old for that LOL).

  6. You are a brave, brave soul. My job took kids there last summer for a field trip. I just smiled and watched them jump around. It's a fun place to visit.

    1. You never really think about what it's doing to your back when you're jumping, but you sure feel it the next day!

  9. Hahaha! I love this! I'm sure your son thinks you're Super-Mom now! It sounds like so much fun, and a great way to get exercise even if you have to pay for it later.

    1. My back is still a little sore. Maybe I threw something out. I should pay a visit to the chiropractor!

  10. A kid in his twenties? Does that mean I'm a teen in my thirties? :)

  12. Sherry,
I probably would have tried that stunt too. I agree that having fun comes first. Back pain and all the other aches can be dealt with after. :)

  13. Good for you!! My boys asked me to ride roller coasters yesterday, but I know I'd be in a neck brace for a week;-) Ha!! I used to be able to ride coasters and play sports, but I'm no twenty-year-old anymore!

    1. I still do coasters, too. But some of those twists and turns make my stomach sick!

  14. *LOL* That sounds awesome! My little guy would love it. Though I try not to even jump on the ground as I'm liable to knock myself unconscious with my chest one of these days!

  15. As I was reading your post I thought, Gosh, I'd like to do that.

But then you mentioned your back, and I knew it would not be wise for me to jump around.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. You'd be fine if you didn't try to propel yourself up to the ceiling. That's what messed me up!

  16. Sounds like fun!!! Isn't it funny that we do those things when we're young without feeling a thing the next day? It sucks getting older.

    1. No kidding! My brain says I can do crazy stuff like a twenty year old, but my body says it can't take such a beating anymore! And I'm in really good shape!

    1. It's on my bucket list. It's pretty high up on the list, too. I should go look up sky diving places in Georgia when I'm done with this. I know there's one in Indiana. My dad said he'd go with me. (He's another crazy nutcase - almost 70, and he wants to sky dive!)

  19. It had to have been a thrill to impress your son. I hope he remembers that when he becomes a teenager and you go from awesome to embarrassing.

I hope your back feels better soon.

    1. Yeah. My daughter says I'm weird and embarrassing. My son will feel that way in a couple years - guaranteed! ;0)

  20. I've gotten wrapped up and forgotten my age before. I actually had to talk my bff down from the ledge. She wanted us to go mechanical bull riding for a recent milestone birthday. I reminded her that we just don't bounce back like we used to.

    Hope your back is better!!

    1. Hahaha! A mechanical bull ride. Yeah. Your back wouldn't feel too good after that.

My back is slightly better, but I really think I should go see the chiropractor to make sure. It was quite a jolt on the landing, and I know my back wasn't happy about it!

  21. Oh wow, that sounds like so much fun! Not the hurting your back bit obviously, hope that is feeling better today.
