"Oh my God, Bubba," I said when I saw him. "What happened to you? Are you okay?"
"I got hurt, again," he said.
"Hurt? From the looks of your shirt, you should be in the hospital! Is that blood?"
I made him pull up his shirt so I could see the extent of the damage. When he did, all I saw were a few scratches. Not enough to make all that "blood."
I narrowed my eyes. "That's not blood, is it?"
He grinned. "No. It's cupcake frosting. I dropped a cupcake on my shirt."
Oy!
And now for a special little surprise: Recently, I performed for a concert at Dragoncon, in Atlanta. Here's a video where you can see me performing the song, Firefly, with a small group. I'm the violist on the far left.
Firefly! What an awesome song to play. That is so cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a waste of frosting...
A waste of frosting indeed!
DeleteHi, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteBubba should rub some of that fake blood on his football jersey to intimidate opponents! :)
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and hearing your performance with that group at Dragon*con. You play beautifully, dear friend!
Thanks, Shady! Firefly was a fun song to play.
Deletehaha he sure had you going.
ReplyDeleteAwesome song to play indeed.
That boy is such a trickster!
DeleteBut Bubba got your attention. Great story and it's good to hear you play!
ReplyDeleteBubba sure did get my attention!
DeleteWOW! Love the video. Great song and love hearing you play. Bubba's tackle of a cupcake was great. :)

The audience seemed to enjoy the song, too.
DeleteBootsy would immediately notice or smell the difference
ReplyDeleteRight. Because Bootsy is a brilliant cat. ;)
DeleteHehehe! Bubba's cupcake "blood" was a funny story. And I LOVE that video. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it wasn't real blood! Glad you enjoyed the video. Firefly was a fun song to play.
DeleteBetter a cupcake, really.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest son who is now in Spain played pro soccer until someone kicked his ankle instead of the football. Son has steel plates in his ankle which ended his career.
ReplyDeleteWonderful video and wonderful of you.
Yvonne.
I'm sorry to hear about your son. Sports can be really rough. Glad you enjoyed the video!
DeleteYou fell for Bubba's schnanigan's again, Mama Sherry!
ReplyDeleteI loved the song and especially enjoyed listening to the talented violinist...you rock!
He's always tricking me!
DeleteMartha Gardner is the violinist. She's the concertmaster of the Georgia Philharmonic. Yes, she's very good!
What a nice surprise for us Sherry. You got a surprise too, when Bubba wasn't really hurt. So glad it was frosting.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteGlad it was just frosting!
ReplyDeleteYou guys sounded sooo much better than the soloist.
I've never heard the actual recording of the song, so I couldn't tell you how he compared to the original. I thought he had a pretty good country twang.
DeleteFrosting as a little more fun than blood, but boys are usually proud of injuries earned well too. I like the song in the video. The style similar to some of the stuff I've been listening to on Pandora.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds kind of country-ish.
DeleteThe music is so great Sherry... what a great job xox
ReplyDeleteBubba loves to play with you... he's so funny xox
Thanks, Launna. Bubba is certainly a comedian!
Deleteyou were great, Sherry, but that singer needs help..
ReplyDeleteThanks, Richard. I thought the singer did all right. But I've never heard the original recording to know for sure.
DeleteAwesome! How did you like Dragon Con? My feelings were mixed on World Con, and they tend to compete against each other. Glad your son's injury was really just frosting!
ReplyDeleteDragoncon is a great place to people watch. The costumes are outrageous! I was just there for the performance, so I don't know how the rest of it was. I'm glad it was just frosting, too!
DeleteThat boy of yours will go far!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be interesting to see what he ends up doing with his life.
DeleteSo glad it was just a cupcake:)
ReplyDeleteYes, me too!
DeleteLol that's funny that it was cupcake frosting! It must have been bright red! And well done on the performance, what a great version!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops of Sapphire
It was definitely red! Three washes later, I'm still trying to get the stains out of that shirt!
DeleteOh Bubba!
ReplyDeleteLoved your video. You play so beautifully.
Bubba is a character, isn't he?
DeleteThanks for the nice comment about my playing. It's certainly something I enjoy doing!
AWESOME performance! Great selection. :)
ReplyDeleteYour son's cupcake incident made me smile. So glad it wasn't blood.
