Our African clawed frog, Croaky, seldom makes the news around here any more. Seven years ago, when he was a young frog, he had episodes of escaping from the aquarium, jumping off the balcony, and landing two stories down. Somehow, he lived to tell about it. He has also had a few trips down the garbage disposal from hopping out of his tank while it was being cleaned. I think this frog has at least nine lives!
Recently, we had our entire house painted. This included the basement, where Croaky normally resides. While the work was being done, Croaky moved up to the kitchen counter. He enjoyed seeing and listening to all the activity of our regular family life. One of the things he enjoyed most, was listening to me practice the violin. Every time I'd practice, he would croak along with me. It was rather amusing. But now I'm wondering if my playing sounded like a croaking frog, and he was just responding to it!
Before I go, I'd like to share with you a sketch of one of the illustrations from my upcoming book, Don't Feed the Elephant. It's being illustrated by an illustrator from ePublishing Experts.
And it's Schultz's birthday today. He's seven. Happy Birthday, Schultz E. !
Happy birthday, Schutz!
ReplyDeleteI think the frog was singing along with the music.
He probably was.
DeleteA big happy birthday to Schultz! And how wonderful the frog was singing along with your lovely music. Maybe he has a future music career. :) Love those illustrations!
ReplyDeleteImagine that. An opera singing frog!
DeleteSounds like he enjoyed the tune indeed. Great illustrations too. Hope Schultz has a happy birthday.
ReplyDeleteHe had a very nice birthday.
DeleteHooray for the illustrations!
ReplyDeleteIt's been fun seeing the illustrator's work.
DeleteAwesome illustrations. Oh, and happy b-day to Schultz! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe old boy appreciates the wishes!
DeleteHappy birthday to Schultz! Cute illustrations. Croaky probably loves the vibrations as well as the music. :)
ReplyDeleteYou might be right about the vibrations. I didn't think of that.
DeleteSounds like Croaky would be an excellent character for another book. I hardly think your violin sounds like you are croaking, if anything, Croaky, is enjoying your superb playing so much that he can't help but croak along.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I absolutely adore the two illustrations!
Indy sends a big Birthday Woof to Shultzy, his blog pal. Indy will be 7 in November.
Again, looking forward to reading your book.
Blessings,
Tracy
I'm excited about the book. It will be out soon!
DeleteI think Croaky is just trying to show off his latent musical talent! Cute illustrations. And happy birthday to your handsome boy.
ReplyDeleteI guess living in a house with lots of music has rubbed off on the amphibian!
DeleteHappy birthday, Shultz. I think the frog was singing along. It's funny how animals react to music.
ReplyDeleteI get lots of positive reactions from the animals in this house!
DeleteCroaky seems to have had quite an adventurous life. Schultz is a beautiful dog, and he's about the same age as my dog.
ReplyDeleteHe is an handsome boy. He had prize-winning parents.
DeleteHe's beautiful. Happy birthday to him.
ReplyDeleteHe enjoyed his birthday.
DeleteThose illustrations are adorable! Also love how Croaky would croak along to your violin-playing. Too cute! And happy belated birthday to Schultz!
ReplyDeleteI think we chose a good name for him!
DeleteHi, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteI am returning to blogging today following the ordeal of Hurricane Irma. Thank you very much for the kind message you left on my blog during the storm crisis.
Happy birthday to your handsome dog Schultz! All this time I have been picturing him in my mind and it is nice to finally see his picture.
The illustrations are wonderful. The characters look natural and the artist does a fine job of depicting them in motion.
It certainly does seem like Croaky has nine lives. Perhaps if you exposed him to your beautiful violin playing more often his voice would become attuned and he'd wind up sounding like Robert Goulet!
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Sherry!
We'll have to work on Croaky's singing abilities! Glad you survived the hurricane ordeal. I hope you didn't have too much damage.
DeleteCroaky sounds like he just wanted to have fun singing along with you. Must have been interesting music you were making together. Great illustrations!
ReplyDelete~Jess
I should probably write a frog symphony. It could feature Croaky. I wonder if I can make a tuxedo to fit him. ;0)
DeleteI would have loved to hear your frog croaking with you! That is adorable! Those illustrations are magnificent! Happy Birthday Schultz! He is beautiful! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt was entertaining to say the least! I'm pleased with how the illustrations look. I think kids will like them, too.
DeleteAww...sounds fun to hear your frog listening and enjoying your music. Happy Birthday to Schulz!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know I had a frog who appreciates classical music!
DeleteHappy belated birthday to Schultz! And I didn't know you had an African clawed frog. Or even what that is. He sounds like a fun pet, though, so long as he doesn't actually claw you.
ReplyDeleteHe's not very big. Maybe about two inches long. He has claws, but they're not slasher claws that would inflict serious damage. He's a good pet. My only issue with him has to do with cleaning his tank. It's not a pleasant job, because it smells like a swamp.
