I'm back from my vacation in Florida. It was a girl trip–me, my daughter, and her friend. We had a great time, except for one thing: The sliding bathroom door in our hotel room.
I don't know what was wrong with it, but it wouldn't slide. At least not easily. I was able to open and close it, but not without bracing myself, or using every muscle in my body to do it. And I'm strong. My daughter couldn't get it. Not once.
"I'm stuck!" she'd call from inside. And either me or her friend would have to rescue her. It was ridiculous. But I will give it one thing: It was the most memorable door ever!
Have you ever had to struggle with a door when you were on vacation?
Here are some pictures of the beach at Fort Walton, Florida:
Hope you've all been enjoying your summer!
Not good about the door but those pics are truly awesome Sherry, nice to see you back.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
It was nice to get away for a bit!
DeleteHope you told management so they could fix it before the next occupant got stuck.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time!
I did tell management. Hopefully they'll do something about it.
DeleteA memorable door is a win, right? haha Glad a good time was had otherwise. I've had to deal with stupid doors and stupid locks to get to stupid doors, so yeah, they can be a pain.
ReplyDeleteWe won't forget the door!
DeleteCan't say that I would've a-doored that sliding pain in the tush, but the beach looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very nice beach! Door...well, I didn't a-door it much! :)
DeleteI hope the beach and salt water was more memorable in the long run than the crappy door!
ReplyDeleteWe loved the beach. The door not so much. But it'll be a funny memory to laugh about.
DeleteI struggle with doors all the time. Each time I go into a new classroom, there's the possiblity that the door may be tricky to get in or get out. Or lock. Or unlock.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't the hotel fix the door for you?
I told management, so hopefully, they'll fix it for the next occupants.
DeleteGlad you had fun trip. No, I haven't had a problem with a door like that. Must have been frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI've never had to deal with a door quite like the one in Florida!
Deletedon't they have hunky doormen to come and rescue you.... like every time.... even intentionally?
ReplyDeleteThey should've had hunky doormen. I'll have to file a complaint about that. ;)
DeleteWhen you said you were in Florida, I was like, "Oh where?" and "Too bad I missed you." But no. You were forever away. =) Good on you for getting out to have some girl time!
ReplyDeleteWe really needed the time away. It was relaxing!
DeleteLooks lovely! Have a Happy 4th! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful! I love the sound of the waves. It's calming. Hope you had a nice 4th!
DeleteGreat workout for you, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great vacation.
We needed our exercise! :)
DeleteGreat pictures. :) That door sounds like the sliding glass door to our back porch!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it had something to do with the humidity.
DeleteCouldn't the hotel fix the door for you guys? Memorable indeed! But looks beautiful there. :)
ReplyDeleteI notified management. Hopefully they'll fix it for the next guest.
Delete"When a door closes... a window opens (allowing you to scream for help)." :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Sherry!
I think I remember you telling me you lived in Florida years ago. I see you vacationed over on the panhandle. Are you talking about the shower door? That can be terrifying. We have had trouble with our glass shower door sticking. The feeling of being trapped in a porcelain prison is not a pleasant one.
I wish you and your clan a safe and happy holiday, dear friend Sherry!
The shower door had a curtain–easy to open and close. This was the door for the bathroom. It wasn't a normal door you open with a handle. That would've been much easier!
DeleteA memorable door... sounds like a story-in-the-making?
ReplyDeleteWriter In Transit
I might be able to come up with a story for that. :)
DeleteI've not so much struggled with a door as lock myself in/out of one.
ReplyDeleteLoving your photos, your choice of vacation looks stunning.
It was a pretty beach. I hadn't been on the Gulf coast for a while. The water is greener than on the Atlantic coast.
DeleteNo, I've never had to struggle with a door. Not yet.
ReplyDeleteLucky you. Hope you never have to!
DeleteI can't stop laughing! LOL! This has never happened to me! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures! So beautiful! Big Hugs!
I'm glad we were strong enough to slide it. We had no guys to help us on this trip. :)
DeleteI can't say that I've had such an issue. Did you try spraying some WD-40 on there? I'd have tried that, and if it didn't work, I'd have gotten a screw driver and then there would be no more door...
ReplyDeleteBut I've also been known to poop in the woods, so maybe I'm not the best example.
Looks like other parts of your vacation went well. Happy summer!
If I'd had WD-40, I would've tried that. I don't know what management is going to do about it. If you'd ask me, they need a whole new door unit.
DeleteWhat a pain about the door :-(
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of your vacation. Always nice to get away on a girls trip.
We had a great time doing girl things!
DeleteA sliding bathroom door? I've never seen one of those, and live in Florida. Then again, I don't get to vacation in hotels. lol
ReplyDeleteWe've had pocket doors that slide into a pocket, but never one that slid like this. It was different!
DeleteThat reminds me of the sliding doors we get on bathrooms on trains in the UK. You lock it with a button and I'm always worried it'll malfunction and slide open at the wrong moment! Hope you had a good holiday though, it looks like the beach made up for it.
ReplyDeleteThe beach was fantastic!
