The other day, my son, Bubba, took a nap. When he woke up, the clock said it was 7:04. Since it was dark, he assumed he had slept all night and that it was 7:04 AM. He got up and proceeded to get ready to begin his day. My husband was also taking a nap, so it appeared that it was indeed morning, and everyone in the house was still sleeping.
Then I came home from work.
Bubba was eating a bowl of cereal, freshly showered. When he saw me, he looked completely confused. "What were you doing?"
"Working, like I always do."
"All night?"
"No. I'm home for the evening."
"Wait a minute," he said. "It's not morning?"
"No, dude. It's 7:35 PM."
Has that ever happened to you?
How long was this nap? Apparently he was really rested after.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea. Apparently a few hours.
DeleteI've gotten up thinking it was morning, but never got ready. That's funny.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that's ever happened to me. Mostly because I don't nap.
DeleteIt didn't happen to me but it happened to my late husband many years ago. Had a good laugh at the time.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
I bet it's a strange feeling!
DeleteHi, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing tale, but I can understand how it could happen. I am still jet lagged from the time change. I sometimes wake up "discombobulated" and not sure if it is day or night. I had to laugh when Bubba thought his mother had been out all night. I wonder what he thought you were doing. :)
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Sherry!
Who knows what he thought I was doing. Probably figured I was up to no good!
DeleteEnjoy your week as well.
it was one of those days....
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteOMG, that's so funny. Thanks for putting a smile on my face. I could see that happening.
ReplyDeleteIt was odd to walk in and see him eating breakfast!
Delete:D
ReplyDeleteThis only happens to me when I'm jet lagged from flying half way around the world. But Daylight Savings does funny things to me, also. I'm composing a kvetchy post for tomorrow about just that.
It takes me a couple of days to adjust to Daylight Savings time. I wish they wouldn't change things!
DeleteYes. I've lost time because of sleeping at odd hours. It is discombobulating.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I haven't had that experience, but I'm sure if you work odd shifts, it can happen.
DeleteI've thought I slept longer than I did, never got ready though.
ReplyDeleteMy boy must've really been discombobulated!
DeleteHA! No, it's never happened to me, but our younger son did something similar when he was a teenager. He used to go hunting with his dad and a bunch of other guys, and one time, he hit the rack early and slept so hard, when he woke up a couple hours later, he thought it was time to get up. My husband said he asked him, "Do you mind if I go to bed first...?"
ReplyDeleteThat's funny!
DeleteThat's so funny. Poor Bubba must've been really confused.
ReplyDeleteYep. He seemed thoroughly confused!
DeleteI've had a few of those days but not gone quite as far as Bubba getting ready for the day. :)
ReplyDeleteI"m glad I came home when I did, or he might've been walking to the bus stop!
DeleteA great story--one he'll get tired of hearing when he's older!

Haha! I have lots of stories he'll be thrilled to hear about when he's older. :)
DeleteOh poor Bubba. I feel so bad for him. Although...I howled with laughter, Sherry. LOL
ReplyDeleteAt least he didn't walk to the bus stop. :)
DeleteYes, I've also had this confusion!
ReplyDeleteIt must be a strange feeling!
Deleteyes, it happen to me several times...lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day
It's probably happened to my husband since he likes to take naps, too.
DeleteHi Sherry! I had a good laugh. What a confusion! :D
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm hopping over from MagicLoveCrow, and wanted to thank you for entering the giveaway. Best of luck!
Hey Khaya. You have a great illustrator for your book! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThat is too funny! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis has never happened to me!
Big Hugs Sherry!
It's never happened to me, either.
