IWSG Post of the Month
It's time for the IWSG post of the month. The question is, "What's going on in your life?"
Well...
I'm not sure you really want to know what's going on in my personal life. It's been rough. But I will say that my children, ex, and I have survived the virus, and we're just fine. It blows my mind that all these people are dying from it.
Lots going on with writing: I finished the first draft of the 3rd book of my Bubba and Squirt series. It's called, Bubba and Squirt's City of Bones (set in Paris). I also started writing the 4th one, Bubba and Squirt's Shield of Athena (set in Athens, Greece). The second one, Bubba and Squirt's Mayan Adventure comes out on September 15th. And Voyagers: The Third Ghost comes out in May. I have a story in that anthology. Lots of marketing going on and preparations for those releases!
Since we've all been quarantined, the music lessons I teach have all been online. That's interesting, for sure! Somehow it works. All of my orchestra performances have been canceled. Sad about that, but life goes on. Hopefully, this social-distancing won't last into the summer!
What about you? What's going on in your life?

It's definitely a crazy world we're living in at the moment. Glad to hear all is well with you and the family. Huge congrats on the upcoming book and story, as well as on all the writing for the others books. Somewhere along the way will Bubba and Squirt run into their own scare with a virus? You're a busy lady. Stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteThat would be something interesting to add to a Bubba and Squirt story!
DeleteHope you are well!
Sorry all of your musical gigs are cancelled. Glad your family is well. Another blogger friend is also teaching music lessons via video and making it work.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for technology! I can still do all of my work online.
DeleteGlad you are all doing well and that you're writing a lot. I'm still working but hope to get more of my own writing into my schedule.
ReplyDeleteI'm still working, too, but now that I don't have to drive everywhere, I have a couple extra hours each day. Hope you find time to fit in the writing.
DeleteIn the current situation, survival is enough. But sooner rather than later we'd need more. Keep writing (we need stories) and playing/teaching (we need music) and someday we'll look back on this.
ReplyDeleteYes. We'll be reading about it in history books!
DeleteYes, this is a trying time for us all. Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteYou, too!
DeleteCongratulations into making Bubba and Squirt into a series.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Thanks, Janie! And thanks for your editing help. There will be more for you to look at!
DeleteSorry your personal life has been so rough lately, but I'm glad to hear you and your loved ones are safe and well, otherwise. And how exciting about your Bubba and Squirt series! The new stories sound like so much fun. Best of luck with everything!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather!
DeleteCongrats on getting more done in the series. Good all are doing fine and hopefully the personal life crap gets less rough.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I got dumped on. Actually, the whole family did. Maybe I will share.
DeleteWhere did you get corona? Was someone licking fingers while outside? Bubba I presume?
ReplyDeleteWe're probably getting a 24h curfew here soon, not looking forward to it.
Wait what? Your ex? You got divorced? So that was all that chaos that you went through last year? So sorry to hear it, deary.
DeleteThe divorce was part of the chaos. There's a lot more to the story!
DeleteMy ex got the virus first. He gave it to Bubba, and I got it from Bubba.
You are so busy writing! Good for you. I'm really happy for you. The books sound wonderful. I love books with history and such in them. *I was unaware of your divorce, too. I'm so sorry for all you've gone through. Please take care...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheri!
DeleteYou sound so busy! I'm in awe of all the people who have taken on homeschooling at the same time they're working from home and dealing with general pandemic panic. Me, I'm just hoping to get some good, solid writing done while I'm here.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually trying to avoid listening to anything related to the virus. I've already had it, so there's nothing for me to worry about. Being productive is better than knowing the latest death toll!
DeleteOh, Greece! I can't wait to read both of them when you're done. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear things have been hard. I hope things get better for you. Stay safe!
I have a lot of writing to do. Usually, when I write a story, I have things all figured out. Not this time. It'll be interesting to see how it all comes together. :)
DeleteSounds like two interesting new books you're working on. I am so tired of Zoom teaching and Zoom meetings! Hopefully, one day, we can look back on it all and laugh, but that might not be soon. Take care of yourself and your kids.

I'm tired of Zoom and Skype and Facetime. All I do is stare at a screen or play with headphones on!
DeleteI'm looking forward to diving into your next book, and it's great to hear you're doing well. Online classes seem to be the new thing. My daughter is taking her gymnastics as of yesterday per online. I'm still not sure how that's going to work, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteI wondered how gymnastics and dance classes would work online. So glad your daughter is still able to do that!
DeleteGlad to hear that you have more books coming out. It's a tough time, the world needs more good books for children. Amazing how much knowledge and teaching we've to the web because of this.
ReplyDeleteYes. I'm taking the time to learn some new computer skills. Maybe it will help in the future.
DeleteThis is a crazy time.
ReplyDeleteThe world has gone mad and everything is in limbo… neither here nor there… the global tailspin is crazy. Actually, it’s surreal.
Stay safe in your corner of the globe.
Hope you stay healthy, too!
DeleteHi, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to know that you, your kids and your ex remain healthy as the plague continues to ravage Americans and people around the world.
I take my hat off to you for adjusting to life under quarantine and conducting music lessons online. I also marvel that you are able to develop several writing projects concurrently. I doubt my one track mind would be able to juggle multiple story lines the way you do. Paris and Athens are exciting settings for your Bubba books and I am sure they will be rich with history. I wish you great success with all of your upcoming releases and subsequent sales.
Take care, dear friend Sherry!
Thanks, Shady! I'm trying to weave a plot line through the last stories, so I kind of have to work with them at the same time.
DeleteEnjoy your week!
Ex? That's rough. We obviously haven't been in touch for some time. But I "think" the follow by email accepted my plea--we'll see. These are strange times. And they are going to get stranger, I'm afraid. Be safe! Love and hugs from Fargo! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, a lot has happened since we last communicated!
DeleteHope you are staying safe!
Glad you and your family are all safe. It is a crazy time for sure. I have been staying home- so I have been staying safe too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the writing and stories! You sound very busy. I am hoping to have some time to write soon. Been very busy working from home.
Stay safe!
~Jess
And I am just realizing that you are all safe now- but that you had the virus (after seeing it on Alex's blog). I am glad you all are feeling better. Hugs!
Delete~Jess
The nice thing about having writing jobs and office jobs is that we can still work from home. I'm so grateful for that!
DeleteYep. I'm keeping busy, even with all of the craziness of the virus going on.
ReplyDeleteSherry,
ReplyDeleteI saw on Alex's blog you had the virus. I just wanted to say I am happy you and your family were able to recover.
Wishing you peace and health...
Is it a bit of relief to know you've had and and are most likely done with it? Part of me is tired of being afraid of it and would just rather get it and get it over with. But then I think- what if I am one of the unlucky ones? Then I don't want it. But then I think that it's not going to go away and I'd rather have it when I am still in the age group who can most likely survive it.
ReplyDeleteOh well, I'll quit babbling. Glad you're safe, on the mend and working!
