The IWSG question of the month is, "Have readers ever responded to your work in ways you didn't expect?" I had to think about this a bit. Adult readers of my Bubba and Squirt books have responded that way. Mostly that they found the stories entertaining and learned something about the countries they didn't know before. I expected that from kids, but not so much from adults, so it was a pleasant surprise.
If you're a writer, have you been surprised by a reader's response to your work?
Now, for the Klaus story. Klaus is our new German Shepherd puppy. He's growing by leaps and bounds. And he's in his teething stage. Anything in his path he chews. Including the wall. This is what we recently found:
And this is the culprit:
Sitting in the doggy jail with evidence on his nose!
Klaus is "working" on the wall :P
ReplyDeleteHe sure was! LOL!
DeleteKlaus looks like he knows he's in jail! But a cute dog. I have often had people take what I have read/said in different ways, some for the good, some for the bad.

Klaus definitely knew he was in trouble!
DeleteHope he won't chew on Bootsie!
ReplyDeleteAs a translator of books, I was most surprised a few years ago when I discovered that many students of English language at our colleges follow my work and see me as their role model. That really fills you with pride, to be the idol of new generations.
Klaus has definitely tried to chew on Bootsy, but Bootsy would have none of it.
DeleteHi, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteYou took the words right out of my fingers, dear friend. I can easily understand why adults would appreciate your Bubba books, given the fact that lots of research goes into them to ensure their historical accuracy and provide interesting facts about the culture and geography of countries your characters visit.
OMG - Klaus is in the slammer! The damage he did to your wall is troubling. Seems like he's ready to enroll in obedience school. Mrs. Shady and I have a black stray cat living indoors with us now. Hungry for his breakfast, he wakes me up early every morning by scratching the corner of the wooden dresser in the bedroom. Mrs. Shady no likey!
It's good to see you, dear friend Sherry. Take care, enjoy the rest of your week, and come visit me again soon at Shady's Place!
Yep, Klaus is in the slammer. :)
DeleteI don't do blogger much these days. Too busy with other things. But I will certainly stop by whenever I'm around. Have a great week!
Klaus sounds like he's a toddler. Hope your house and you survive his teething. Glad you've gotten good feedback from your adult readers about your book.
ReplyDeleteHe has lost almost all of his baby teeth. Now hopefully, he'll stop chewing so much!
DeleteYup, I had a dog that ate the wall. Ate the coffee table legs and my 45 record collection as well.
ReplyDeleteOh, no! Not the record collection!
DeleteAll you need is one of those shaming signs, and you've got quite the image. Poor Klaus. I'm sure he's not enjoying teething.
ReplyDeleteNo. He whimpers quite a bit, and I'm sure it's from the teething pain.
DeletePoor Klaus! Take him out of doggy jail. I remember putting baby Orajel on my children's gums. I wonder if that helps puppies.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I have no idea. Didn't think to ask the vet about it, either. I think he's just about done teething.
DeleteI guess that Klaus is in the..... dog house.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you and family.
Yvonne.
Yep. He's in the dog house.
DeleteAwww, poor puppy. Hopefully he learns walls aren't for chewing!
ReplyDeleteHe's a little slow on learning things. It might take a while for him to figure out what's okay to chew and what's not.
DeletePoor Klaus,I foretell many funny stories from that lovable fur baby. He looks so innocent.
ReplyDeleteHe's a sweet puppy. Very affectionate.
DeleteOh no!!! What a mess!
ReplyDeleteKlaus looks so innocent in his jail! LOL!
Big Hugs Sherry!
He's a silly puppy!
DeleteSo innocent looking. But what mischief.
ReplyDeleteHe knows how to create trouble!
DeleteHaha! I have a wall like that. I feel your pain. But look at Klaus in the kennel! He's so adorable...
ReplyDeleteExactly. How can you be mad at the little guy? LOL!
DeleteOh yes, the puppy chewing stage! LOL I remember it well, my fur baby chewed the legs on my EXPENSIVE dining room chairs. You gotta love them. Thanks for sharing, Sherry. And Happy Mother's Day to you (tomorrow).
ReplyDeleteKlaus has chewed up the kitchen chairs. When he's done, they'll be nothing but stumps. LOL!
DeleteI guess that's Klaus in the dog house ... well, cage anyway. And yet look at that face, innocence personified 🤣
ReplyDeleteHe knows he did something not so good.
DeleteYep. He's sitting in jail. :)
