IWSG and New Book Trailer

Boy, that month sure went fast!  Seems like I just did this!  So, the question of the month is, "Have you ever been conflicted about writing a scene in your story? And how did you make the decision to write it or not?"

I had to think about this one. Usually what happens is, I write a scene, and then when I am doing revisions I decide if I keep it or not. The way I decide is I ask myself if it moves the story forward. If it does, great, it stays. If it doesn't, then it gets cut. I don't think I've ever sat down and asked myself if I should write it or not. What about you? Do you write and then cut, or decide first not to write it?

Wanted to share this with you—a new book trailer for my book, Bubba and Squirt's Big Dig to China. I thought the animator, Arjun Singh, did an amazing job with it! And the audio, done by John Israel, is quite impressive! What do you think?

And of course, I have to give you another picture of Klaus. He's being a very good boy here.

  1. That is a really cool trailer!
Is Klaus usually not a good boy?

  2. Thanks!

Klaus is usually quite the trouble maker. I am glad he doesn't live with me. The destruction he has caused is unbelievable!

  3. Sometimes I know I have to write something that is hard for my characters. I tend to procrastinate for a bit until I finally do it, but I feel a little stressed leading up to it!

    1. It's always a good feeling when you finally get the words down on paper.

  4. Really like your trailer. I write slow so I try to decide whether to write a scene before I do. Though if something's not working, I delete or change it.

  6. Hi, Sherry!

That trailer is fantastic, dear friend! The music, sound effects and animation bring your characters to life, convey the gist of the story and capture the sense of wonder, adventure and danger experienced by Bubba and Squirt on their Big Dig To China. Klaus is a handsome boy. I hope he is being a good boy most of the time lately.

Enjoy the rest of your week and month, dear friend Sherry!

  8. It is great animation. Looking good. As for writing, I always have to add, not subtract when editing. But I think your way is better.

  9. Until my current WIP, I never felt conflicted about a scene. I am having this question now. It isn't anything that would interest anyone else, just a matter of whether I need to add a scene for character rounding purposes, though this would slow the action down.

And your Klaus is very debonair indeed.

  10. Really liked your new trailer, although that page of reviews is a little hard to read for small font size. Enticing music, illustrations invite the reader into the story! Nice work. Re the writing, usually I write the story, scaffold missing scenes, write/draft/cut as I go. It's actually fun. Have a good month!

    2. Thank you for visiting my blog during the Theme Reveal. Your prompt of "time/space travelers arrive on a planet that has been settled by space pioneers or an alien race" is being used in multiple ways in my A to Z story. It still has one more use coming up this week.
