Scary Mama Mobile

Yesterday, I went to get an oil change for my car.

As soon as the technician opened my hood, she jumped back and screamed. Literally.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

"You have a giant spider living under your hood!"

Oh.  I thought. That's nice.

She grabbed her handy dandy water sprayer thing, and spent the next five minutes spraying the heck out of it. "There," she said when she was finished. "It drowned."

Okay. One less scary thing, I suppose.

After the routine checkup, it was determined that I needed to have my fuel injectors cleaned. Some kind of engine cleaner was added, after which I had to start my car, and give it gas.

Well, the technicians had told the next customer to pull up right behind me. This wasn't a good idea. Because as soon as I hit the gas, a massive amount of black smoke billowed out of my tail pipe. I watched in my rear view mirror as the customer opened her door and ran out of her car, choking and gasping for air.

Poor lady!  "Sorry about that," I said after the smoke cleared.

Finally, it was determined that I needed a new battery (it was on 30%), and that my O2 sensor was not working and had to be replaced. When I got the bill for all the work that had been done, it was over $500!

I tell you, I have one very scary car!

Today's Bubba question of the day comes from Arni. She wanted to know where and to what era Bubba would go if he had a time machine.

Surprisingly, he did not have to think too long about that.

"I would find an unsolved crime in the present where a huge award would be given to someone who could help solve it. Then I would go to the past, to the scene of the crime, and see what happened.  When I return to the present, I will report my findings. Justice will be served, and I will get a lot of money!"

Pretty amazing. How many of you would have thought to do that?

If you have any questions for Bubba, please put them in the comment section.

(And from yesterday's post, if you're curious as to how old I actually am, I'm 144. Minus 100.)

Do you think it's okay to lie to your readers? I saw your picture and stand by my belief that you CAN'T be a day over 26! :)

I'm glad the mechanic was able to get the bugs out of your engine. :) As for your total bill, $500 seems like the minimum you pay these days whenever your car goes into the shop. They ALWAYS find enough problems to add up to that sum or higher.

Bubba's idea to be a time traveling crime solver is brilliant. I hope he can someday tell us where they put Hoffa.

    Happy Thursday, dear friend Sherry!

    1. Haha! Nobody ever guesses my age. In fact, when I go into the high schools to work with music students, teachers ask for my hall pass. I show them my drivers license, and they nearly fall over.

Cars are so expensive when they need repairs! I can't remember the last time I got out spending under $100!

  2. First and foremost: Sorry about the car. I've been through those frustrations so I can feel you. Secondly: Isn't that the premise of Time Cop?

    1. Could be. My son never saw that movie, so he came up with that on his own.

  3. Oh my goodness, a $500 dollar bill like that would kill me! Glad you got your vehicle fixed though!
Boy, your kiddo has some answers! Very clever, good idea!

My boy does come up with some good ones!

  4. The only thing worse than dealing with car repairs is dealing with health insurance companies (sorry to vent but I just got off the phone with them) You don't look 44, but hopefully I don't look like I'm closing in on six decades

    1. Sorry you had to talk to health insurance companies. I know that's not fun at all!

  5. That is one huge bill, but hey at least the car gets much needed checks and repairs. And oh poor spider.
You are ageing beautifully. And I would have never thought of that answer by Bubba.
    Warm greetings!

    1. I don't I would've have thought of Bubba's answer. I still probably wouldn't do it, because seeing someone commit a crime would upset me.

  6. or it could just be a revenge of the spider who sensed his death and messed with your car before it :)

    1. Yes. I'm sure it was the spider who messed with my battery and O2 sensor.

  7. You're brave. I would probably have run screaming from the spider. I don't like anything creepy or crawly. Sorry about the
$500. That always happens to us too. We always end up having to pay more, because there always seems to be more wrong, then what we thought (sigh).

Again, I have to say your son is just the smartest kid around. Don't you wonder if he would share the money with you and your husband and daughter? I would love to ask Bubba a question, but I don't have an original one at the moment. Wishing you the best.

    1. I couldn't see the spider from where I was sitting, but I'm sure if I had been the one to open the hood and spot it, I would've been quite startled!

  8. Bubba did a great job with that question! He really does have amazing answers, to match his imagination.
The spider thing must have been very scary indeed; Almost as sary as the bill! Yikes.

  9. $500 for car repairs seems to be par for the course lately.

The premise of Time Cop was that people were time travelling and mucking with the timeline, so the time cops went back to restore the "correct" timeline.

    1. Thanks for clarifying that. I'm not familiar with Time Cop, but it seems that Bubba's idea is different.

  13. Good heavens...did you say you went in for an OIL CHANGE?! You got a whole lot of adventure out of that oil change! I didn't know a car did that when fuel injectors were cleaned. I'll be careful if I ever go through that!

    1. Yep. Just an oil change. You never know what's going to happen when you bring your car in for an oil change!
