Today, I'm over at Tara Robinson's new blog, Really Real Housewives. (Yes, I'm really one of those!) I'm talking about how to survive your child's birthday party. Even if you don't have kids, you might find it an entertaining read. Please stop by!
Now, for something a little different. Michael G. D'Agostino has this thing he does called Question of the Month. I decided to participate. This month's question is, "What's the best job you've ever had?"
Well, that's easy. Being a music teacher. Music is my passion, and I love sharing my knowledge with others, watching them grow as musicians, develop self-confidence, and enjoy making music. I am so lucky that I get to do it just about every day of my life!
What's the best job you've ever had?
Finding a great job is a great feeling
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is!
DeleteWriting works for me. But doesn't pay the bills, so 9-5 it is, ugg lol
ReplyDeleteTrue. Unless you're like Steven King or J.K. Rowling.
DeleteJust being a musician in a band is now dream job enough for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you get to do that. Music is a wonderful career!
DeleteHi, dear Sherry! It might be hard for you to believe but, as much as I love music, I have very little musical talent and it was my worst subject in school. I got a "D" in it in 7th grade!
ReplyDeleteThe best job I ever had was working as production manager at a television station patterned after MTV. I was there in the 80s and 90s and had the chance to meet, interview and hang out with many of the leading rock and heavy metal bands of the period. It was a heady experience!
Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Sherry!
Your production manager job sounded like a lot of fun. I bet you met some really interesting people.
DeleteYou go a "D" in music? I didn't think anybody got "D's" in music. Must've been something not quite right with the teacher. I'm glad you enjoy music, though!
I would probably be pretty passionate about it too if I had that job. Well done on working a job you love so much :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a very lucky person!
DeleteOh wow, you're a music teacher! An impressive job indeed, Sherry. Well, my dream job was to be a Flight Attendant to travel round the world & I'm happy to have realized that dream. I was in the airline for 7 yrs spending many happy moments :D
ReplyDeleteI love travelling, too. I applied to be a flight attendant, but didn't get the job. It probably worked out better that way. I bet you have some great stories to tell from your experience!
DeleteYou work in a school as a music teacher or privately?
ReplyDeleteI teach private lessons in a school. (Violin, viola, and piano.) I don't teach in classroom settings with classes full of kids, unless I'm doing workshops. I personally like one on one instruction. I really get to know each student well, and tailor the instruction to their individual learning styles.
DeleteAssistant manager in a small pet shop! Well, all my pet shop jobs. I worked in three different small independent shops over the years. :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be fun - especially for someone who loves animals.
DeleteMy best job is teaching Creative Writing in college :)
ReplyDeleteThat's sounds good. I bet it's fun reading your students' work.
DeleteYou sound like a wonderful teacher. You really love what you do and I admire that. My current job is the best. I'm a data capturer/ writer and I work from home;)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice when you can work from home. I did that for a long time, and it was good to be there when my kids came home from school. I was able to help them with their homework and spend more time with them.
DeleteA parenting advocate was the best job I ever had besides the one I have now.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds interesting. What kind of things did you have to do as a parenting advocate?
DeleteA parenting advocate was the best job I ever had besides the one I have now.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have the perfect job! I worked at a stable with horse in NY and I loved it. It was hard work, but so rewarding. One of my favorite jobs for sure. :)
ReplyDelete~Jess
My daughter would love that. She loves horses!
DeleteConsidering how many jobs I've had (um...2), I would have to say the one I have now is the best.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have a lot of stories from the job you have now!
DeleteOff to our great-nephews second birthday tea next week-end, I'll be sure to pass some of your words of wisdom onto his mammy.
ReplyDeleteBest job I've ever had? Erm, after school play worker? Or would that be as a teaching assistant?
Playing with kids is a lot of fun! Hope the birthday party goes well!
DeleteI'm happy for you Sherry. And I admire people who can play an instrument the way you do.
ReplyDeleteThe best job I've ever had? That would be the one I have now, being a university Teach and all... But I'd rather play the violin. I'm not kidding.
It's not too late to learn!
DeleteDefinitely sounds like fun. I gave up on music but I had some great teachers. The best job is the one I've got now - OK, writing doesn't pay, but I can edit too!
ReplyDeleteI bet it's fun to read other people's works. Yes, writing doesn't make you rich, but it's certainly fun (for the most part) to do.
DeleteI've enjoyed things about all my jobs (and there are things about them that I dislike, but over all, they've been gone. I am really enjoying my current position.
ReplyDeleteThere are pros and cons, good days and bad days for all jobs. It's good to have one that has mostly pros and good days!
DeleteJust checked out your post over at RRH. What fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd aw, that sounds like a great job, for sure. How cool that you get to nurture a love of music like that daily!
It doesn't even feel like a job!
DeleteI haven't had too many types of jobs, so I'd have to say my current teaching position is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteTeaching can be a really rewarding job.
DeleteIt's awesome not just that you love what you do, but you're helping teach others about what you love. Being a full time writer is my dream job, so I'm trying my best not to squander it while I've got it.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best thing. Being able to teach others something that I enjoy so much.
DeleteBeing a music teacher would be fun. I think being a writer has been the only job I've had that I've ever liked even a little.
ReplyDeleteWriting is good. A lot of us in the blog world do it. But music is my true passion.
DeleteWriting is mine. Sounds like teaching music is an amazing job. I'm perpetually on the learning side of that relationship, though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm still learning, too. That's one of the great things about music - you never run out of things to learn. There's so much!
DeleteThat's terrific that you're getting to do your dream job.
ReplyDeleteSusan Says
I think so, too!
DeleteCan you be my music teacher? :D
ReplyDeleteSure! When do you want to start? :)
DeleteI don't think I've ever had a dream job... I think it is awesome that you have yours... it must make going to work so much more fun ♡
ReplyDeleteIt really does! So many people dread going to work. Not me. I look forward to it.
DeleteWow! Its great you do something which you love with a passion.
ReplyDeleteI'm so lucky!
DeleteI'm sure you're an excellent teacher, Sherry. It's a blessing to make your passion your job.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I enjoyed reading your awesome guest post and party planning tips on the really real housewives. The luckiest people in the world are those who found early and are doing what they're passionate about. I found mine and I remember it was you who suggested it (Interior Design) many years ago on one of my blog posts while I was still searthing for it.
