"Mom," my teenage daughter said. "Can you make pancakes?"
"Sure," I said. "Are you craving them?"
She shook her head. "No. I want to make pancake art."
"What?"
"Pancake art. Everybody is doing it. Here, look at these pictures." She rolled through her Instagram photos and showed me all kinds of artistic pancake "carvings" her friends had made. They were impressive.
"Okay," I said. "But when you're done playing with your food, are you going to eat it?"
"No. Carbs aren't good for you."
Right.
In case you want to see a sample of pancake art, here's a picture:
Hi, dear Sherry! Why settle for portraiture? If your daughter is taking requests I'd like her to replicate the Sistine Chapel. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll send her your request. :0)
DeleteWow, those are impressive! I'm just happy if I can make a round pancake.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking now I have a good excuse to burn a little bit of them. It'll add some color. ;0)
DeleteWell they are done really well at least. I taking people are going ape s*** over it? lol
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing the things these people are doing with pancakes!
DeleteYea, these things are kind of ridiculous. My wife is trying to figure out how to do it but runs into the interesting problem of being an artist but not having ANY cooking experience so...no luck yet. haha
ReplyDeleteIf your daughter wants to make it and not eat it then she should make sure she has someone who will or she should plasticize the good ones.
Could definitely be a problem if you don't know how to make them! You might have to do the cooking for her.
Deletemonkey business!
ReplyDeleteThat's right.
DeleteTotal monkey business!
DeleteI guess I miss a lot by not being on Instagram or Pinterest--LOL! Those are remarkable, though.
ReplyDeleteI'd miss this, too, if I didn't have kids.
DeleteI've seen videos of pancake art but I've never attempted it.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how much time it takes to do this. I certainly don't have the time!
DeleteWow, that pancake art is really impressive. I wonder how much practice it takes.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a lot!
DeleteI couldn't eat those, and not because of the carbs. They're too real.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I probably wouldn't want to eat anything that looked like a living animal, either.
DeleteThey look great Sherry, talented family.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
She didn't make this batch. I found this picture on the Internet. Whoever made them, though was very talented.
DeleteAmazing art. I have trouble getting my pancakes to stay together sometimes much less someone create art with them. LOL
ReplyDeleteSomebody must've been really bored who started this.
DeleteI've seen those. Cool.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty cool.
DeleteI remember seeing photos of pancake art before, but never attempted it myself. I don't believe carbs are bad, so that's probably for the best. It'd be such a shame to eat all that art after creating it, after all! XD
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the pancakes would be cold by the time the artwork was finished. I wouldn't eat them just because of that. ;0)
DeleteI would be happy to volunteer to eat the pancake art for you!
ReplyDeleteIf we do this, I'll let you know, and you can come over and help with the eating. ;0)
DeleteGreat pancake art design.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was an impressive display of pancake art.
DeleteAlong with coffee art these pancake pictures seem very popular at the moment. A shame to eat them but on the other hand, carbs or not, I couldn't see them go to waste.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to waste them, either.
DeleteA new craze I knew nothing about
ReplyDeleteHaving kids, you learn about all kinds of crazes.
DeletePancake art? I haven't heard of this one yet... I am sure Valentina will be mentioning it soon enough. Although neither of us are too creative that way :)
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to let me know if you attempt your own pancake art.
DeleteLove your daughter's creativity, Sherry. I'd never heard of pancake art, but now I have. Did she create the pancakes as shown above?
ReplyDeleteNo. She didn't make this batch. I found this picture on the Internet. I thought it was a good sample of pancake art.
DeleteI hadn't heard of this trend! Those art pieces made out of pancakes are amazing. I would rather eat pancakes, but I think the art could be fun too!
ReplyDelete~Jess
It definitely makes eating pancakes more interesting.
DeleteWow. Those are impressive! Mmm, now I'm craving pancakes!
ReplyDeleteI thought they were rather impressive, too!
