Fingerprints on the Ceiling

The other day, I happened to glance up at the ceiling. I noticed some smudge marks. I got a stool and stood on it for a closer look. Do you know what they were? Fingerprints.

There was only one individual who could be the culprit.

"Bubba!" I called.

He came.

"Dude. How did your fingerprints get on the ceiling?"

"Well," he said rubbing his chin. "I jumped because I wanted to see if I could touch the ceiling."

"Uh, huh," I said. "Obviously you could. Now, how do you think those prints are going to come off?"

He shrugged.

I explained it to him. "You see this stool, right here? The one short people like me have to use to touch the ceiling?"

"Yeah."

"You stand on it and you scrub them off."

"Oh."

The boy got a rag and water and scrubbed his grimy fingerprints off. Hopefully that will be the last time he'll have to do that. Now that he's grown much taller than me, I'm going to have to do regular ceiling inspections just to make sure!

  2. Hi, Sherry!

Wow, Bubba must be growing by leaps and bounds to be able to leave his fingerprints on the ceiling! If he hasn't already done so, he should try out for the school basketball team this coming year. Please don't let Bubba see this Lionel Richie video. It might give him ideas!

Thank you very much for swinging by just in time to help me celebrate 10 years, dear friend Sherry. Stay tuned for my shocking announcement coming tomorrow!

  3. HA! This sure brings back memories. Our boys were rather competitive, so they were always seeing who could run faster, jump higher, you name it. No only were dirty fingerprints on the ceilings a common occurrence, but we had dirty footprints, too. (Bunk beds!)

    1. Oh, goodness! I shouldn't have to worry about the footprints. We don't have bunk beds.

  7. Oh, that age... I can't tell you how often boys reach up and grab the top of the doorway just to see if they can. Boys... *shakes head*

  12. You never know what Bubba is going to do! Kids do love to see how high they can jump. Too funny. Hopefully he only does it with clean hands from now on. :)

    1. It would be nice if he had clean hands, but somehow, I don't think that's going to happen.

  16. Even when they pass us up in height, there are so many things they still need to learn...like how to clean up their own messes.
