It's time for another IWSG question of the month. "Have you ever read a line in a novel or a clever plot twist that caused you to have author envy?" I had to think about this one. I don't recall a specific line or plot twist, but I can say that after reading, Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge, I was extremely impressed with her world-building and lush language. I had never read anything quite like it. So, I'd say I had a little author envy of her tremendous skill in those two areas. I hope when I grow up, I can write like her.
What about you? Have you ever experienced author envy?
Not a whole lot of other news to report. My oldest daughter is getting ready to graduate from college. Can you believe it? And my son is still in the Navy. My, how time flies! I guess the cutest thing is that my dad got a Goldendoodle dog. Her name is Daisy. Isn't she adorable?
That is an adorable dog.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out Hardinge. It sounds like impressive world-building.
I was impressed with her world building!
DeleteAuthor envy: never had that at reading others' lines, but have had author awe. I experience envy sometimes when someone gets a book deal or signs with an agent that I wish I would've.
ReplyDeleteBoth your dad and his new canine are cute :)
There are so many talented people out there! I'm glad we get to read their creations! I agree about my dad and his puppy! :)
DeleteSo many bloggers have their kids finishing college right now, seems like they were all kids but yesterday, but we've been blogging for more than a decade now.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that crazy? It's amazing that so many of us are still here!
DeleteTime sure does fly, doesn't it? Congrats to your daughter. And Daisy is adorable.
ReplyDeleteIt does! Daisy is definitely a cutie.
DeleteDaisy is adorable! Congratulations to your daughter. And yes, the time passes without us realizing it.
ReplyDeleteMany of us have been doing this for over a decade. So hard to believe!
DeleteGoldendoodle! What a unique mix.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your daughter.
Daisy is adorable, Sherry! I have dog envy! ~ lol. time flies faster every year. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteYou're not kidding about time marching fast. It seems like just yesterday I was holding my infant daughter.
DeleteNot author envy, but awe, often.
ReplyDeleteYour children surely aren't old enough to be graduating and serving in the Navy!
Daisy is very pretty. We had a Daisy once, a Jack Russell - a very sweet dog.
It's hard to believe they're young adults now. Time sure flies! Daisy is an appropriate name for a sweet dog!
DeleteHi, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteHappy March, dear friend! I just discovered your comment in my spam folder at Shady's Place and got it published 17 hours late. Sorry about that.
Yessum, I think the Question can be interpreted to mean good natured envy, not "green with envy" in a negative sense. Therefore, it's okay for us to admit that we sometimes envy an author's clever turn of a phrase or story denouement.
Congratulations on your daughter approaching an important milestone - become a college grad, and for your son and his naval career. Clearly, you got some of your good looks from your handsome dad. Daisy looks like a friendly, gentle, loving dog. I wish I could raise her as my very own.
Have a wonderful month of March, dear friend Sherry!
Thanks, Tom. I didn't realize my comment hadn't gotten posted. I only visit once a month. But I'm glad you found it!
DeleteYes, my dad is a handsome man. Nobody would ever guess he's in his mid-seventies. Both of my parents are good-looking and youthful.
Daisy is a sweetheart!
Happy April!
It is nice to have writing that one appreciates and is amazed by (maybe instead of envy, to be in awe of)... Looks like your dad has a neat dog, I have a neighbor with one and it often comes out and walks with me when I'm passing by their house.
ReplyDeleteDaisy is my dad's little shadow. It's cute how she follows him around everywhere.
DeleteI really appreciate authors who can write great plot twists and lines and admire their talent. Congrats on your daughter graduating college. That's a big step in her life.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is! She's not sure what the next steps are, but it'll be interesting to see where her life goes.
DeleteTime does indeed fly, Sherry. Much too fast, if you ask me. Bravo to your daughter graduating soon. And how proud you must be of your son in the Navy. Daisy is adorable. Have a beautiful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSometimes when you're going through some of the challenges of life, it seems to go slowly, but when you look back, you realize it goes by in the blink of an eye. Have a great April!
DeleteCongratulations on your daughter graduating! I admire writers coming up with great lines.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the creativity of authors! Always very inspiring.
DeleteI'm in awe of writers coming up unforgetable lines.
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteSurely EVERY author, no matter how popular, will have had author envy {whether or not they would have admitted it even to themselves} at some point or other ... or am I wrong?
ReplyDeleteHmm! As if all thoughts of author envy didn't go out of the window the minute I saw Daisy who is soooo cute.
Daisy is absolutely adorable! That cute little face!
DeleteGlad you found books to give you author envy.
ReplyDeleteGraduating college, wow, that's awesome.
It's April, so I'm focused on the #AtoZChallenge.
Proof of Existence, book two in my dark urban fantasy series, is out this month.
And I'm running a giveaway on my blog.

I can't believe she's graduating from college, either! It all seems so surreal.
DeleteJust a couple of months ago, I gave this relationship doctor Robinson buckler a try. It was my last hope to get my ex husband back.
ReplyDeleteWeeks before my ex left me and our 2 children, there were a lot of argument and fighting between me and him. On the day he left me, he told me that he doesn't think he loved me any more and this was not working. I was so devastated hearing this, I begged him not to go and I even promised that I would change. But he made up his mind already. He packed his bags and left our house.
I tried calling him and texting him to tell him I miss him and still love him. I asked him to give us another chance. He slowly stopped replying to my messages and stopped picking up my calls.
I then searched the internet on how to get ex back, and even bought a few products such as text your ex back and ex recovery system. Nothing worked, and my ex was still very cold towards me.
When I was about to give up, I found Robinson buckler ex back program. He is a relationship coach with a lot of success stories. I knew what I needed was not a book but a coach to guide me how to make my ex fall in love with me again. I immediately signed up for his program.
In the first couple of days, I made a lot of good progress. I am happier and more confident. My ex saw the positive changes in me, and started to talk to me more and even asked me out for dates.
Fast forward two weeks later, my ex told me that he wants to give our relationship a second try. I was beyond happy when I heard that.
Now, we are closer and happier together. It would not have happened without Robinson buckler help.
