"Mom, fall is the best time of year," my daughter announced.
"I like fall, too," I said. "The leaves look so pretty on the trees, and the air has a different smell."
"Yeah, but do you know why I really like fall?"
"Why?" I asked.
"Because of fall fashion! There are new clothes, new shoes, new makeup, and new nail polish colors!"
I looked at the girl. "Do you really need more nail polish?"
She grinned.
I walked to her room to find out exactly how much nail polish she had. Do you know how many bottles were lying around? Twenty-six!
"Girl," I said. "This is ridiculous! You absolutely do not need more nail polish!"
"But Mom," she objected. "Those are spring and summer colors. I need fall colors!"
Of course.
A girl after my own heart! Got to stay seasonally current!
ReplyDeleteI guess if I polished my nails, I'd have that many, too! (I don't, because my nails have to be kept short for playing the violin, and to fuss with nail polish would be a major nuisance.)
DeleteWow, 26? A nail polish hoarder haha
ReplyDeleteYes, she is! She likes to go to the local drug store to see the new shades.
DeleteMy daughter (older than yours) would agree. She has a nail blog and constantly swaps colours. I think she has hundreds, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a nail person, having an art background, my nails never were in good shape. They were full of charcoal, printer's ink, etc. I do like the amazing array of colours and lovely designs my two daughters create.
I bet your daughter has really pretty nails! I've seen some of the neat things they do to paint them.
DeleteYou do need to be seasonally correct.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit to loving fall and winter clothes. It's a curse that I now live in a place with no fall or winter.
Poor you!
DeleteI've always admired girls/women who pull off different shades. 26 is a lot but I'm sure it's fun to match them with clothes and the season. I keep mine short and color free because whichever color I put, I'm sure there'll be lead/ pencil smudges all over my nails at the end of each day.:)
ReplyDeleteI keep my finger nails color-free. It's too much of a hassle to keep them short for playing the violin/viola and maintain the nail polish.
DeleteLove the post, I love the song Forever Autumn it says such alot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment much appreciated.
Yvonne.
You're welcome for the comment. I'm not sure I've heard the song Forever Autumn. Maybe I have, and I just don't recognize the title.
DeleteShe's all right.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
She's a girly girl!
DeleteFall is my favorite season too. And that's a lot of nail polish!
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite season. I think for a girl who's twelve years old, that's a little excessive!
DeleteWell.
ReplyDeleteYeah!
We all need fall colors!
She sounds wonderful!
She's a very stylish young lady. I could learn a thing or two from her!
Deletewait till the winter comes....
ReplyDeleteMore nail polish!
DeleteI...think I own more nail polish than your daughter. *hides*
ReplyDeleteOh my! ;0)
DeleteWhere does she put it all
ReplyDeleteShe has a three-tiered night stand shelf next to her bed. It holds all her cosmetics and girly things.
DeleteWow, that's a lot of nail polish! : )
ReplyDeleteYes it is - more than I own! I think I have a grand total of two bottles! (If I need a different shade, I just ask to borrow one from my daughter!)
DeleteShe is smart -- that daughter of yours.
ReplyDeleteI just saw my neighbors in their fall colors too. It seems as though I'm the only one left wearing summer colors. I think I'll change it today.
Time to get with the program. ;)
Delete(Don't worry, I'm still in summer mode, too!)
