Name: Sherry Ellis, AKA The Mama
What genres do you write?
Children's Books (picture books, chapter books, middle grade books)
Are you published? Yes. Two of my picture books are published: That Baby Woke Me Up, AGAIN, and That Mama is a Grouch. I have an agent for my chapter book series. Hopefully a publisher will be found soon!
Do you do anything in addition to
writing? I am a professional musician who teaches and plays violin, viola, and piano. And I'm obviously a mom. (Does that count?)

Okay. I think that about covers it! If you want to connect with me at any of these places, feel free to do so! Also, I am a member of SCBWI. And I am quite willing to help with getting the word out about fellow authors' cover reveals and new releases, so if you have something new you'd like me to promote, let me know!

Connected on many I think, not a bad hop as one can throw in everything but the kitchen sink lol
ReplyDeleteYep. And I think I threw everything I could in there!
DeleteHi Sherri!
ReplyDeleteI too write in the same genres as you do. Aren't they fun? :~)
Good luck with the FOLLOWFEST! I host a WRITERLY WISDOM WEDNESDAY on my blog (www.donnalmartin.com) where authors, agents, and illustrators chat about writing and the publishing industry. I'd love to have you join us!
Fyi...I'm your newest fan!
Take care,
Donna L Martin
Thanks for following! I love writing for kids. It's the best! I'll check out your writerly wisdom Wednesday thing. Thanks for telling me about it.
DeleteYou are very talented. And, YES! Being a mom definitely counts! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in Follow Fest. :)
Thanks for having it. It's a great idea!
DeleteKeeping my fingers crossed for you, but I'm sure you'll find a publisher soon! (:
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you're right.
DeleteNice to meet you, Sherry! Hang in there - that publisher will show up, soon!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, too! I'll keep waiting. One of these days...!
DeleteYou are everywhere. You do so much. I don't know how you find time to blog as often as you do.
ReplyDeleteI'm everywhere, but not really. RSS syndication feeds are awesome! The only places I really visit on a regular basis are this blog and my Facebook page.
DeleteI'm sure I'm following most places, and your other blog, but I will check!
ReplyDeleteI certainly appreciate it, Alex! You rock!
DeleteYay! Another member of SCBWI. Glad you joined the Follow Fest. I should be following you on Twitter now.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's always nice to find other SCBWI members, isn't it?
Deletesince you're a violinist, I'd love you to play me ROXANNE'S VEIL theme from ALEXANDER movie :)
ReplyDeleteOkay. I don't know it, but I bet I can get the music. Then I'll play it for you. ;)

My son and I are writing a chapter book series together--very new for me. Professional musician. I love it. I've never had much luck with piano, despite taking lessons for 10 years.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your chapter book series. How fun that it's a collaborative effort with your son!
DeleteHi! Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, you play the piano? My daughter wants to learn an instrument and I'm thinking about piano.
:)
Piano is a great instrument to learn. I always recommend learning it first, before any other instrument. It's just really useful to know.
DeleteOf course being a mom counts! Good luck with the publisher.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh man, so many violin/viola jokes surfacing in my mind from high school band... ;)
ReplyDeleteYour picture book titles are awesome, btw. Nice to meet you!
Don't even start with the jokes! ;)
DeleteThanks for the compliment on my book titles!
Crossing my fingers for your chapter book, Sherry! I know you're determined, so it'll find a home soon enough. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm all caught up on my follows for you!
Thanks, E.J.!
DeleteWell done for achieving all that and being a mom - that's the most time-consuming job of all!
ReplyDeleteYes, being a mom is very time-consuming!
DeleteWow Sherry, you're everywhere. I just followed you in a couple more places. Good luck finding a publisher.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela!
DeleteSo inspiring that you've published 2 picture books and have an AGENT for your series! Congratulations and hope you find a publisher soon. Looking forward to following.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's been great meeting you in this follow fest!
DeleteBeing a mum definitely counts, it is after all one of the toughest, most emotional jobs in the world. You are clearly a very busy mum too. Go you. Congrats on your agent and I hope you get that publisher soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAlready a fan and a follower, but I "liked" your Amazon page, so that's something. =]

DeleteHi Sherry sounds like you're a very busy mama!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I certainly am!
DeleteHey Sherry,
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you...you're a busy mama! I love the violin and cello and wish I could play either one. I mainly stuck with the brass instruments and fiddled (pardon the pun) with the guitar. Never learned to do that well.
I think I've followed you on all mutual venues!
M.L. Swift, Writer
Thank you! The cello is a gorgeous instrument. I would love to learn how to play it well. Maybe in my spare time. ;)
DeleteBeing a mom definitely counts!
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't know you had a Tumblr! Following you over there now under the username "ewingfan." :)
I just started Tumblr. Honestly, I'm not sure I'll use it much, but thanks for following me there!
DeleteGreat idea for a blog fest
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea, too!
DeleteHi Sherry! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Congrats on getting an agent. Still working on that.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a while. Just stick with it!

DeleteI think I picked you up everywhere I am.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWow, you have a lot of social media contact points!
ReplyDeleteYes. I've been busy trying to build a platform!
DeleteWhat is the purpose of your platform? To sell more books? I see you have two different facebook pages--I actually use FB more for "work" and blogger (which I keep semi-anonymous) for fun, which may be the other way around for most folks.
DeleteYes, to sell more books, and to "get my name out there" in case I have any more books that come out. I'd have to say though, that I'd still do Blogger even if I didn't have books to sell, just because I love interacting with all the great people in the blogosphere!
DeleteThank you for the visit and comment. I'm now following your blog via Bloglovin. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you have a lovely day, too!
DeleteExcellent written out and very clear to understand.

ReplyDeleteI really like the titles of your picture books!
I played violin and piano (and flute) for years, but gave it up too early. Wish I hadn't. Go you for making a profession of it! I'm very impressed, along with everything else you're doing!
Glad I found your cyber home out here in the blogosphere!
Thanks for stopping by! I'm so lucky to have a job doing something I love!
