"Mama," my nine-year-old son said. "Did you know jellyfish are immortal?"
"What?" I couldn't believe it. "Nothing is immortal."
"Jellyfish are. I learned it in school."
"Yeah right," I said.
"But Mama, it's true!"
"Okay, I'm going to look this up." So I did. And guess what? One kind of species of jellyfish is indeed "immortal."
If you want to get enlightened, here's the article.
(Now my son says lobsters are immortal. I'm off to check this out, too!)
Wow- I had no idea!ReplyDelete
But who wants to live forever?ReplyDelete
Do I hear a Queen song?Delete
Not me! Yes, David, I think you hear a Queen song! ;0)Delete
the same is believed for crocodiles and alligators. They die only in nature, when attacked by their enemies, but in the zoos they live for hundreds of years...ReplyDelete
Bubba's ready for a competitive game of trivia.ReplyDelete
At least in science he is!Delete
He knows a lotReplyDelete
Surprisingly, yes. He really likes science, so he learns a lot about it.Delete
Wow, I never knew this. Freaky!ReplyDelete
My thoughts, exactly!Delete
Need to get their dnaReplyDelete
Yes. I don't need to live forever, but if I can look good even when I'm old, I'll take it!Delete
Never too old to learn.ReplyDelete
I did read that somewhere a while back, must be niceReplyDelete
I wonder if immortal jellyfish ever get bored bobbing around in the water forever.Delete
Wow! And I agree with Angela.ReplyDelete
I guess there's an overpopulation of the jellyfish in some parts because of their immortality.Delete
I read the article and decided that the name of the jellyfish is wrong.ReplyDelete
It basicly regenerates its cells, therefore it is a TIME LORD JELLYFISH! GERONIMO!
Yes! Dr. Who's counterpart under the sea!Delete
Ah, now I think of the Cumaen Sibyl (hope I spelled those correctly because I'm too lazy to look it up). Apollo gave her the gift of immortality without the gift of eternal youth. She ended up as a little pile of dust that could talk. I wonder when she finally blew away. Maybe she's still talking dirty.ReplyDelete
LOL! Apollo was a tricky dude!Delete
I have no idea on jelly fish...ReplyDelete
I had no idea, either. I guess you learn something new every day!Delete
One of my co-workers just told me this, and I totally didn't believe her, either!!!ReplyDelete
